Friend wants to build two water setups. XS registration doesn't work for him.

Systems:

Opteron 165, Overclocked, willing to remove IHS
x1900xtx Crossfire

Opteron 165, Overclocked, IHS stays on
7800gtx SLI

Not too much in the way of specific parts yet, just thinking a triple rad for each... and I was explaining why no need for an $80 block for an IHSed CPU when I thought to just come here instead.

Also he really wants the systems to be compatible with AM2 in case he wants to move them to a new build (3.15ghz ON AIR just isn't enough?).

Budget is sensible premium, not the most expensive, but no reason to hold back anything really.

Apparently silence is not important but he might just not realize how nice it can be.

He lives in the UK.

I'd suggest printing off the stickies for him, which outline what he would need.

Well if you meant the components generally I and he knows that he needs a pump, rad, etc...

But if you meant specifics that is why I made the post, to make sure the blocks work on the cards, argue over best radiator, etc.

Once again, I'd have to say, refer to the stickies...as for the "really good" right now:

CPU: Swiftech Storm Rv.2 or AquaXtreme MP-05 SP LE
GPU: Dangerden Maze4 or MP-01 (AX)
Radiator: Thermochill pa series
Pump: Either a dangerden D5/swiftech mcp655 or a Laing DDC/DDC Pro/DDC Ultra will work perfectly fine
Reservoir: Nah, just use a T-line
Fans: People like the YateLoons SL series.

but, is it worth it to get a storm for an IHSd CPU?

Yes it is. You'll have the best of both worlds. If you're concerned about cost, the MP-05 is a nice block for about half the cost
