View Full Version : Noob at W/C, Need a small advice please.
Hello,
I'm relativly new here and require help... I have been considering to get a water cooling solution to my 3D Aurora [gigabyte] case that is ATM Housing a socket 478 Prescott [P4 stock 3.0GHz]. but I need one that will also support Socket T 775 LGA because i'm going to upgrade to a conroe once it comes out [I have a brother in the U.S. so he's getting me the conroe + video card + ram at 1'st of september when he returns to my country]
Now, I do not [and can not] buy a custome one, only a BUNDLE!!, because i'm getting it from thailand [my uncle is having a 3 weeks vacation there and has told me he is willing to get me one as long as it is bundle]
I have been thinking of two for now, the Nautilus 500 [CORSAIR] or the Swiftech H2O-120 Premium...
The budget is not very high one either, because i'm spending a lot on the computer itself (around 1600-1800$s just on the pc w/ out a screen or anything..), so in numbers the budget will be 100$ - 120$ [Don't follow newegg's prices, because its going to be bought at thailand, and im not sure about how much cheaper it is than the U.S. but it should be significantly cheaper...]
Do you have suggestions for bundle water kits that could stand in the requirements? [I believe up to 180$ USD should be around the 100$-120$ in thailand]
And opinions on the two w/c kits that I thought about will also be welcomed! :toast:
Thanks in advance,
-Jo / Yoad B.Y.

if u r looking for a bundle, u won't get a lot of help since most of US ( and as stated in the Stickies ) know that kits svcks
but anyway the SWiftech h20-220 is the best, try to get it instead of the 120
also u won't loose anythng if u asked about teh prices of a good block like the Strom REv.2 and everything else casue i am sure u can buy a custom kit for the same price but with much better performance

Youre probably beter off using just a good aircooler like the Tuniq Tower, TT Big Typhoon or Scythe. Really save yourself the money and have better temps too, prefab WC kits perform the same or worse.

those are good choices in kit forum as SaFrOuT stated go for the bigger rad. also get uncle to pick-up a gal of prestone Low Tox anti-freeze, for future flush an change @ 20%mix fliud. an bleed the air out of loop before using.
vOdka you must be smashed for the deaffing sound of fan on aircooler aren't heard
Wow im giving up on this place, i've heard this is the best place to ask such questions but obviusly *most* of you guys are clueless.
I'll apologize for losing my patience and turning offensive, but I still hold my ground that most of you're replies wasnot as helpful as I EXPECTED, and its my bad because I shouldn't have expected stuff in first place.
So now i'll edit my words to a less offensive version, with an apology for being offensive infirst place.
To SaFrOuT, I Can't get custom ones as its not a matter of price, its matter of my uncle not being able to order parts seperatly because he is on vacation there and only spends limited time on every place so he has to get it all at once, plus he understands nothing about computers and having to order long list of parts will just confuse him and he'll get it all wrong. Also, as I said I do have some budget, im not made of money ^^; 180USD is my budget and the h2o-120 is already at that budget, thus the 220 is way over it =\ so unless you have another idea of a good w/c kit that is equivlant to the 220 but is not over my budget that'dbe great.
to nealh, Thank you for trying and taking the time to write all of that list of parts, though I am sorry to say I Can't get any of it, at all. In my first post I Did say I can't get custom parts of any kind :S.
to v0dka, lol.. you must be insane, no further notes. [I'm sorry, I just can't edit this.... that guy IS crazy for saying such a thing lol]
Kapt, you'rs seems helpful and i'm thankful for the idea about the low tox anti freeze thingy, however i barley understand what is it :( and my uncle will doubtfully understand what it is either lol... how ever if you brought it up already, most of the w/c kits comes with a bundled anti freeze coolant, won't that work at least for a few couple of months? ^^; till I get some cash to buy more coolant? oh and why does people use distilled water... i think its bad as they are great basis for alot of germs to grow up on.. but still a lot of people use them, why?
-Jo.
P.S.
All i've asked for is opinions on those two kits, or maybe other kind of kits that doesn't cost too much and fits the requirements in the first post...... [this is still true, lol]

Why are you getting abusive after SaFrOuT has already answered your question ^^ as stated that is the best kit out there although that isn't saying much and Vodka is right that similar performance can be gained from a top end air heatsink except without the increased hastle and risk of watercooling. I don't know how many times I have seen people post similar sayings to this but what the hell This is XTREMESystems where performance is the main goal so ofcourse people will advise custom kits that give better bang per buck and will not be so keen on expensive and underperforming components such as pre made kits. :toast:
Well its not up to me, I am getting it as a present for birthday from my uncle which is clueless in computers, so all he CAN get me is a bundle... so why bother and telll me how much better a custome one is?

In response to the above post, XS is a big place. BTW, this is Snake-Eyes from TF.
In response to your other post (here AND TF), Safrout gave you an option (2, actually) to go with. Stop bickering. Nealh was, in my opinion, subtly saying "kits suck, get custom parts." V0dka is saying that WC kits suck, and you're better off going on air cooling.
Also, melymel is right. :T

Buy a Thermaltake BigWater kit, its really the best!
I Have edited my post [2nd one here] and apologise for losing my patience.
Hopefuly from this point some people that knows stuff about the prebuilt kits will post, if you don't and only knows your stuff when it comes to the high end custom ones, its fine.... you don't HAVE to post something if you don't really know much in that specific area.

wow..sorry it was early in the morning in Tampa and I missed your post about bundle only..I am sorry
I really hate when I do something stupid .. my bad
Here is a suggestion..maybe not good
Do you know where he will shop..if you do and they sell custom parts you could get a well defined list together and all he has to do is given it to the vendor and get the parts..just like a bundle

No offence here either bud, but you are indeed the biggest WC noob around like you admit to. :)
I'm just offering an advice for you that will save you money and give you (near) equal performance, but hey, you dont have to take my word for it. Here is the first hit on google for WC and BT. (http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/cooling/air/thermaltake/clp0014/)
Have fun with your overpriced prefab kit.

v0dka, I dont think you can compare a swiftech kit with a BT. Though koolance.. um you could :ROTF:
Yoad- Go with the h20-120 if you want a waterkit and cant afford anything more. Best bang for your buck. Gigabyte has a watercooling kit that works well but the setups hell LOL. "Gigabyte, 3D Galaxy Liquid Cooling" for around 130 USD on Froogle.com but the h20-120 still bests it but cost more (134USD on up on froogle)

vOdka you must be smashed for the deaffing sound of fan on aircooler aren't heard
Oh and BTW this is also not true, the TT BT will stop spinning regularly because it keeps the other Opty 165 under 25C here (that CCBWE does run cooler than my CCB1E though). Even if it does go at 100% you cant really hear the damn thing over any other components. It seems there are people that still live in the Athlon XP hot-noisy-stock heatsink era, judging by their comments.
Anyway -again- just a friendly advice to save $ 100,- (or to go xtreme).
