but i run those lol
XF2 has put out some killer points lately & has caught XF4 with ease in the past couple weeks & I have no idea why...I haven't changed a thing w/ XF4 :)
Still yet to find the time to upgrade XF4.....have a CPU rdy for it, ;)

XF2 has been rockin lately! N8, I believe the difference has been in the fact that I've been running two instances on it. That and the fact that I'm o/cing it by the multi only. It's running at 135 fsb, but that little Xp1600 is running on a 13 multi at 1.85v with a cheap volcano6+ with a d*mn loud 60mm fan which I think is a tornado fan, but not sure. I really don't care for that hsf, it has the copper plug in the middle with aluminum fins. But it does its job;) Keeping it at around 45c. Hopefully XF1 will be contending with the rest of them now, it got a nice upgrade last week.
Runnin 2 instances could make it a little faster, but I can't imagine it'd be that much faster...specially since XF2 was up & runnin a while b4 XF4 & XF4 passed it pretty handily shortly after being built...& pulled a nice lead, & now has lost all that. I don't think its a mult issue as to my knowledge F@H is dependent purely on CPU MHz and as XF4 has more MHz & more FSB than XF2, I don't see why the multiplier would matter. Right now & for the past few months XF4 has been @ 11x166 = 1826MHz. I only run it at this combo as to take advantage of the 1/5th divider. I used to run it @ 11.5x166 = 1909MHz but I had some stability issues so I backed down the mult rather than give it more voltage for now.
The other issue could be the proteins being folded...XF4 runs -advmethods & -forceasm tags 24/7. I don't have the time to change the flags on all my folders daily, lol.
I promise to put the 1700+ I bought for XF4 in this week in which I'll be starting off @ 12.5x166 = 2075MHz...after that, we'll see how high she'll go on air.
Fold on ya'll! :D

XF2's been putting out 230+ points per week showing here
http://www.overclockersforum.com/folding/teams/3365.html
XF11 has been folding gromacs, and hitting the same 225-240 per week averaging. 1600+ 12.5 x 150 1875mhz, Dam wonder chip from DDTUNG,
And hasnt had a single error, I'll put 2 instances on and see if i get a little more out of it also.

Your doing tinkers, while xf2 is doing gromacs it will produce more points in the same amount of time.

By overclocking by the multi, you're forcing more threads through the cpu at once. Picture each multiplier being a pipeline, for each pipeline made available, gives the client more pipelines to push info through. Thus more info is getting processed at the same time. Thats why the fsb doesn't matter, fsb only gets the info to the cpu, then from there it's up to the cpu to calculate the info and pump it back out to storage.
As far as running two clients at once, the only benefit from that is that there is no downtime. It gains from the 4 - 5 minutes it takes the client to get a new wu. Basically, just boosts one frame per submittal. But over the course of many wu's, that can eventually add up:D But it really kills one clients frame times, but levels out looking at the overall picture.
It was either saturday or sunday (don't remember which) but when I checked the stats, XF2 had gotten as high as reporting 276 points for the week. I've never seen a XP1600 hit that high before:banana:

So then why not lower the FSB to like 100 or even as low as like 66 and just raise the multi REALLY high? (don't mind me, I run non-ES p4's.)

I've never really tried going to those kinds of xtremes with it, but I have tried going as low as 100 with a xp1600 to see how high I could go with the multi, but I believe the mobo was the real deterant then. I'll have to look further into it:)

Hmm, gonna have to test that mult theory, Be nice if it made only a 5% difference. XF11 is already maxxed on the mults on a kr7a epox 12.5 max.
276 per week is amazing points on a 1600+, I shall copy you exact to see if it makes a difference with XF12. The KX333 abit you guys sent has higher mults, gonna have to unlock this 1600+ though. I just stuck it in yesterday to get it going, since i'd be working today and through the week.
How you guys are getting higher than 12.5x w/o cutting/connecting L3's, I'll never know :)
I'll try to get XF4 runnin the Tbred & doin Gromacs tonight.

Actually, on XF2 I had cut and modded the bridges to acheive the multi. I did that when it was in my duallie trying to get past the 12.5 barrier on that K7D. But I also fugged up my second one attempting the same thing (went flawlessly w/ the first one) and ended up stripping too much of the organic pcb layer off around the bridges and now it won't boot.:(

N8, did you get XF4 upgraded last night??? I got home from work yesterday to find my internet connection had been down all day and every one of my rigs were displaying "get work failed":(
Had to get Timewarner to reboot my connection. Lost an entire 10 hours of production for two rigs, and about 6 1/2 for at least one other.
Ouch that hurts, ya its doin 2075MHz(12.5x166) right now & foldin gromacs. Now if u keep up w/ her I plain give up :p
P.S. Look in ur rear-view, & I'm not talkin XF's :D

It,s great that you guys upgrade the Xtreme Folders on your own. Keep up the great work team!:toast:

I've seen ya coming. Hopefully a small addition I put together over the weekend will hold you off a little bit, but I doubt I can hold you off forever;) But I'll be trying:D
Hardass,
If AMD can keep producing such economical CPU's, then its easy :)
I sold the CPU u sent for $35 & got the 1700+ for $50. That's $15 for quite a few more MHz, vroom vroom ;)

I can't believe XF4 hasn't taken off already actually...XF2 is only 2pts behind right now & that's pretty amazing considering XF4 was only down about 30mins total for the new CPU & some de-dusting :D

Yeah well, just imagine my expressions when I got home last night and found the internet down and XF2 at "get work failed #24":upset: Xf2 could have produced at least two more wu's in that time span....

Give Detox some gromacs, He's turning in some nice numbers without them!!! With them he'd probably get close to 2000 per week. He's getting close to 1600 per week now.

Go HERE (http://forum.folding-community.org/index.php) and pm pthagoras, tell him you want to join the beta testers team give him your system specs. He will pm you when you are on the team come back here and put your name in the betateam rollcall thread. I will give you access to our betateam forum.

My rig = XP2100 @ 11*205 for 2265mhz
XF10 = XP1600 @ 11.5*133 for 1530mhz
When folding the same unit there was a 45 second per frame difference in favor of my rig....
My memory may be a little off but I think thats pretty close to the truth...
I personally think its all in the raw MHZ....

Hey Crazymofo, I'm in Lansing, MI. Good to see another local at the Xtreme, and folding too! :)
Where do you ride? I've got a 99 R1, take it down to Dexter Trail once in awhile, Lot's of nice roads in southeast michigan.
Big UofM fan too.

MY avatar was taken in Grass Lake most of the fun roads I ride are around that area but pretty spread out... I usually start out in Dexter and end up in Jackson or Stockbridge... The damage to my bike was done on Kalmback rd about a mile from my brothers old house... My computer addiction is just about over with for the year time to start dumping money into the bike :D
There's a big party at Suzies in the spring and fall for ALL riders not just Harleys a buddy of mine usually puts together a nice 100 mile ride that ends at her place you should join us! It's a great ride... we hit all the twisties we know of...
You taken that beast of yours to the track yet??

03-04-2003, 09:26 PM
Suzies? Should I know that name? LOL :)
Haven't taken the R1 to the track yet, but I did take my 916 to Grattan with some local ducati riders.
That was more fun then track days with a car. :slobber:

Suzie's gathering draws over 500 bikes when the weather permits... She also has other events throughout the year...
I'm looking to make it out to Grattan sometime this spring hopefully... should be fun!
This late winter we're having is starting to get on my nerves:D
