as shown in this thread AI gives some extra FPS:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=104802

But I have not CCC installed, because I have no use for it.
If I want to use AI, do I then have to use CCC, and is it always activated? or should CCC be running in the tray?

You can change it with ATI Tray Tools as well.

Google it.

Should it be running in the tray?

as far as i know ;) After you set 3D settings in CCC you can close it. They wil be used until you change them again.

If I remember right. When using CCC it has some processes running. Can I disable those and still på using AI?
Normally I disable everything in my startup in msconfig.

This is how it works: If you set any setting in CCC, when you restart these settings are only applied if you have CCC enabled in the startup. So if you do set in CCC, but do not have it set to startup, nothing will be applied and the drivers will run in their default mode. If you don't want it in the startup, just run CCC once so it applies the settings, then you can shut it down.

You can use ATI Tools or ATI Tray Tools to set these settings in the loaded drivers, and you only need to set them once per startup. Nothing needs to be running to maintain or hold the settings.

I don't have either CCC or CCP installed.. I set everything with ATiTrayTools and it seems to work just fine...

Where's the option to enable CCC at startup?

Tried 3DMark with AI on high using ATItool. NO gain at all:(

Its in the startup by default. You can change the option in MSconfig (nothing fancy).

@mbm: CCC maybe necessary for the option. I have never tried to enable AI without CCC installed.

Yes

You may remove it from the tray under CCC Preferences.

as far as i know ccc does NOT need to be installed for AI to work.

it doesn't. I have never had CCC installed and have instead changed AI through ATT and it has always benefited me the same.

it should,

i mean all these programs like ccc or att or atitool do is change the same keys in the registry.

Yes

You may remove it from the tray under CCC Preferences.

That wouldn't shutdown CLI just FYI.
