Hey,

I've searched numbers of forums for a program or a method to overclock the Yonah CPUs that are in laptops. I have a Dell laptop with a Yonah T2500 and I want to overclock this baby so bad! It has a weak 166FSB stock and it's really making me angry that I can't raise it. Clockgen has no support for this, I've sent emails to the maker requesting support for it.

Anyone got any ideas how to raise the FSB? Obviously I can't in Bios since it's a Dell. Maybe a way to unlock the Bios or a way to do it through a program?

You know, laptops are designed so that they are able to endure heat at stock. If you OC the chip, your laptop might not be able to endure extra heat. The worst case would be destroying your entire laptop.

Of course, I think you will be able to OC a little, but don't expect OCing like these Extreme(or crazed) people around here.

its a dell. PLL's are locked. your pretty much almost guarenteed to not be able to overclock it.

what is the chipset the motherboard uses ?

same thing for their desktop models they lock the pll's so you cant overclock them with programs like clockgen.

Chipset is i945gm (express)
Damn, I didn't know that Dell locked the PLLs. Looks like it's hopeless...

the 945 is not supported by clockgen and i am astonoshed they used such a crappy chipset for such a beasty cpu

the only other option is to use Notebook Hardware Control and set the multiplier on the cpu to always be the highest. and play around with the cpu voltages to find the cpu's lowest stable voltage. it will help with temps, and battery life. even though always locking the cpu at the highest multiplier will eat away the battery life

but because its a dell,, and a laptop and the 945 chipset you have no choice right now that i know of, it is impossible to overclock it.

Yeah I was quite annoyed when I discovered the chipset they use in this laptop. I had no choice to any of the hardware in the laptop though, as this was a gift. If anyone thinks of anything I can do, then speak up... I'll be drowning in my tears :(

dude there is no cure for this.

i've already told you

dell locks their PLL chips. so ther eis no way to software overclock the cpu.

they also use a custom intel bios so there is no way to flash it with a working intel bios. and intel bios's wont let you overclock on that chipset.

your up the creek without a paddle.

all you can do is use notebook hardware control to lock the cpu multiplier so it doesnt downclock the cpu.

Yes sir...

Have you overclocked your Dothan in your Gateway? Or is that not possible for you too
