Could be an intresting alternative to the 965,975 chipsets ... From the reference board, maybe a couple of small layout issues, the NB heatsink is pretty close (could cuase problems) and i suspect that SB fan is going to be a noisy little bugger. Other stuff looks to be ok, maybe the really tall caps at the top right near the power connector could be in the way too, i'd like to see smaller ones, cause we all know they going to get hit by the rom drive you when you stick it in for the first time ;)

Although my actual rig is an AMD 3800 X2 , asus A8n Sli ( very happy with it by the way ) I think nforce has to mature for intel platforms .What it succeed with AMD is not so sure with Intel , although the review shows good and close results between the 2 platforms :)

Never choices were so difficult to me to get a decent board with core 2 duo out !!

bah I 've allready ordered asus P5W DH since what I saw is satisfiyng my will to have a decent overclock and not extreme :) and it is allready available too .

And to know it is possible to run a geforce 7950 GX2 is an interresting way to bypass sli solutions with crossfire native boards if you want too

Rofl, they used a D805 for the overclocking.... Maybe because with a Conroe they weren't able to overclock the FSB enough :p:

Damn, look at the cooling.

Pass.

Am I the only one that thinks it sucks to need 2 active coolers in order to cool this board properly? :stick:

Here you got your response.

The board fully supports Core 2 Duo processors although we cannot provide results at this time due to NDA restrictions.

They are under NDA.

Yes, 2 active coolers suck. BTW, even using stock active coolers I think it will be HOT, and very noisy.

Same, but maybe Asus can get away with you heatpipes (like there nforce AM2 boards)... but still ya .. 2 fans .. going to be loud :(

The board looks like an engineering sample though. So, they might have added two active just to make sure that it'd run stable. Who knows.

I still can't get how a they succeeded with one pci-E at x16 and the other PCI-E x4? Both running at different speeds. May be they succeeded in getting it work but was there any performance hit?

it seems this board has 2 x PCI 16

I hope that the SB can be replaced by a passive heatsink...or I'm not buying.

Yes nforce 590 SLI INtel Edition has 2 PCI-e X16 slots.

It also supports "Link Boost Technology". I think it does. I know the AM2 version did.

that is what i'm thinking.

That is why companies want reviews not to leak any pictures or benchmark results because trash them right away.

We always try out best to seek more info about new stuff and once we get info we put it down right away.

i think thats mainly because it's a reference board comming strait from nVidia.
ASUS wil most likely equip the bord with heatpipes. (see the pics of the P5N32 SLi-SE) and DFI has een active cooler on the southbridge and the regular DFI fan on the Northbridge. (see the pics of the DFI LP UT NF590)
the active cooling on this board was prolly to esure it would work stable, and maybe nvidia being to lazy to design heatpipes for its reference board

i dont think the LP NF590 had a northbridge heatsink when we saw it.
However it did have a copper fanned southbridge.
