Awhile back I started a thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5835) asking how to eliminate the two tubes coming out the top of my HC in favor of having the tubes come out the front... Well I finally got around to doing it today.

Here's what the core started out as....

I first cut the tubes off then realized that they were soldered in place so I used my new friend to desolder the left over bits and yank them out.... Drilled two holes in the front and soldered two 5/8" barbs on... Cut one of the tubes down to two flat square pieces and soldered them to the holes left by the factory tubes...

Here's what I have left... the solder job actually looks much worse in person :D But it's air tight!!!

And this is my new friend...hehe Made the job a heck of a lot easier...

Now I just need to build the shroud... I have one started but it keeps breaking so I need to find a better material to build it with.. Right now I'm using a really thin sheet of aluminum and I think it’s just too flimsy??

Thats exactly why I got this HC because without the pipes on the top it is a perfect fit in my Antec case... I can keep by HDD cage intact... I actually bought the blow torch today just to get the remaining piece of the pipes off but then I just kept screwing with it and ended up doing quite well IMO.... and to think I was going to epoxy the barbs in place... I always thought I sucked at soldering... hehe
