Hello all,

I have recently acquired a rev. 304, and have a couple of questions as far as the power connectors on this board.

I have this PSU:
http://www.xpcgear.com/ocz700gxssli.html

Right now, my current configuration on the board is:
P4 520j 2.8ghz (just to tide me over til Conroe:D )
ATI PCIE video card
4x1 Super Talent DDR2 PC800

I currently have the 24 pin connector plugged in, the 8 pin CPU connector and the 4 pin connector as well.

The documentation that comes w/ the board states as follows:

"NOTE: Do not use the 2x2 to 2x4 adapter when using an IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® processor Extreme Edition or a processor that is not running at its default settings. Doing so may result in damage to the desktop
board."

link: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d975xbx/sb/CS-022070.htm

My question is, i'm not real sure exactly what should be connected and when. I currently have all 3 plugged in, and do I want to have the 8 pin CPU connector w/ Conroe, or no?

Sorry, it just seems the documentation that came w/ the board is a little vague, as far as what is supposed to be hooked up, and w/ what processors, and it seems to indicate that all of these should be plugged in, but the above statement makes it a little less clear.

Any help is appreciated!

TIA!!!

Hook up the 8pin, the 24pin and the regular molex

Older boards have the 4pin instead of the 8pin, it is saying not to use an adapter if you only have a 4pin psu.

Gotcha!

That is what I thought, but wasn't real sure, so just wanted to get some clarification.

Thanks for the welcome, I look forward to frequenting this forum quite a bit.

I have an ANTEC NEO 480 and this has a 24 pin and 4 pin power plugs.
Will this not work on the Bad axe?

By the looks of it on the intel site its suggest not using it.How will it fit in?
will it provide enough power to the mobo for overclocking?

on mobos that have 8pin connector, there is a black block that blocks off 4 of them. the ones that are not blocked off you plug your connector in

OK cool,

will this hinder the overclock do you think?

yes it will work

Do not run a 4-8 pin adapter. We already have dead boards and this is specifically mentioned in the manual as a no no. How much clearer do you need it to be ;)

I have this PSU, and bought the one I mentioned above, because it wouldn't work with it.

Couldn't even get the mobo to start.

The warning says the adapter is not specifically for extreme edition or any cpu that is not running at default settings. If you use the adapter or just the 4 pin, you will damage the board if you attempt any overclocking at all, or even if you just plug in an extreme edition (and probably engineering samples also).

guess I'm screwed then unless i get a new psu:(

does the 8 pin 12 v connector offer more stability over the 4 pin like on the Asus P5W DH Deluxe ?

why does the asus only use a 4 pin 12 v connector
