I am planning on getting the Conroe X6800 (if possible) or E6700.
I am confused as to which Intel 975 motherboard to use.
Choices:
1) Asus P5W DH Deluxe
2) Intel D975XBX
3) DFI 975X Infinity
How would you rate the above boards?
Which one would you choose and why?
Or would you rather get Intel 965 motherboard instead?

Is the Intel D975XBX really that good?
I heard good things about the DFI 975X Infinity but the localation of the power plug and also the cheap onboard sound and lan goes against the board.

Well at least here (AU) they are pretty much first to market. (with the exception of the Bad Axe's)

Yes, Asus will be the first 975x Conroe ready boards in Hong Kong, too.

I wonder when the DFI boards are going to be released. I'll go check to see if I can find a date...

Well...
The BadAxe is the First Official Intel board, which supports OC'ing.. And what happened? The RAM Mosfets are blowing up on the Board, by using a slightly higher voltage.
You wanna look at Intel any more? lol...

Does the Asus p5W DH Deluxe have the VDroop problem?

Nope...
Asus have solved that problem.
Now the vDroop, is barely 0.02, compared to the .1 earlier :P

Really.
Cool then the Asus P5W DH Deluxe is a good choice for X6800 (ConroeXE).

I heard that the Intel D975XBX is a good board but it needs to be modded or something.
I don't plan to void my motherboard warranty when I buy it, do you think the Intel D975XBX is a better board than the Asus P5W DH Deluxe out of the box and for overclocking?

^^ No ways..
Specially since most of the XBX's are dying out...
Its a really sad scene.
We know that wont happen with Asus boards, as their a tried and trusted brand ;).
Intel's x975xbx was their first crack at releasing a Motherboard which can acutally Overclock, and they screwed up. With the RAM Mosfet's burning out if the vDimm is kept at 2.2V + for a prelonged time.
Im more like ..
1) Asus P5WDH
2) DFI Infinity 975x
3) Abit AW9D-Max
Intel's XBX has totally disgusted me honestly !

if abit had more frequent bios updates/bug fixes. They would really come back, im one that would put abit first even after seeing the dfi results. I also would like to try the AB9-pro. More of a/b compare for single card setups.

Regarding the Abit 975x board.
I hope they don't put the floppy connector below the last PCI slot again. That is annoying.

Yes, but I use it for bios updates and also for norton ghost.
Also it forms as part of my system so I like to have it anyway.
Plus I need a PCI slot for my X-FI Fatality Edition.
