man, I knew that was gonna happen. Bikes were never designed for such speeds, even speed tuned.
Next thing, they're gonna OC the that guy's legs

When I saw it was a real bike and a mountain at that I was expecting the frame to snap. That is just insane, I would have expected the frame to break earlier in the run.

When he made it down the first time, I was like "Wow, he's lucky". I thought the wheels would be the first to go. That looked like it hurt.

Out of the 1 or 2 busted frames I have seen that is where they broke aswell. They were aluminum iirc and definetely were road or cyclocross frames.

both the ones I broke were made of craptastic white steel... I forget the exact name of it but when you break it, it looks white like aluminum.
I've seen worse though.. my friend lost the front tire on his mountain bike and landed facefirst into the spokes. Reconstructive surgery of the nose ;)

Ouch, you definetely beat me there. I saw a frame laying in a friends garage broken at the neck whatever its called. I asked him what happened and his dad was in a cyclocross race and wrecked it at one point in the day. They got the wheel fixed so it spun true but it wasn't balanced and when going down a hill at about 40mph it gave out and he went down thus breaking the neck. It was pretty cool looking and one expensive bike at that.

what a jackass... i knew that was gonna happen.. if it'd been paved/concrete road it most likly wouldnt've snapped but vibration + that = murder on your welds and the frame :o
i guess he won't ride a bycicle soon

2x. He should have atleast reinforced the neck welds, and NOT use those composite rims lol. I was waiting for those to shatter.

Yah but the guy that has the real WR did it at the bonneville salt flats, id like to see him do it down the side of a mountain like this guy did, lol :D

why not use carbon fiber frame with no welds?

Probably cause of cost.
You think if you were goin to pull a stunt like that you would make sure your gear could survive it.

that guy was just unlucky. a good downhill bike can take a lot of stress.
i remember seeing a guy doing 128km/h on a ski piste on a popular german game show. he didn't use any special equipment except for spiked tires.
edit: ok, it was 124,13km/h ;)

44km is decently faster I would think but... I don't know that much about bikes heh.

The funniest part is where the pick him up off the ground and man handle him, conscious or not that would hurt after takeing a digger like that.
