System:

XP2100+ AIUHB T Bred "B"
Abit KX7-333R
2x256 PC2100 Crucial (soon to be upgraded to 2x256 PC3500 HyperX)
Radeon 9500 Pro
WD 60GB Hard Drive
SB Live 5.1
3Com NIC
HP CD-Writer
Antec True 430W PSU

Problem:

It freezes... anywhere, during windows install, in bios... Now the weird part, is that if I let the system run for a few minutes to a few hours, it runs fine after that until I turn it off for a few minutes again... I've switched out video card and memory with working stuff. I've tested the cpu. I exchanged my power supply for a new one. I'm trying to test the hard drive now... I did a test on the hard drive with the western digital diagnostics and it said everything was fine. Ran a few tests and even wrote 0s to the drive. I'm thinking it has to be my KX7... I think I'm just gonna buy a new board, unless I can figure this out in the next few days...

Well, freezes in bios with no hard drive attached.... The only things I can think are messed up mobo or this antec 430W psu really does require burn in... which would account partly for freezing only on cold boots. Problem is my voltages are 4.99 to 5.02 and 11.99... That's like perfect... I don't know what else it could be...

I had same problem with a cheap ECS mobo that I bought to use as a folder. All my other components tested good in an Abit board. I RMAed the ECS and the replacement did the same thing. ECS has no tech support (they will email you 3 days later and tell you to do some noob stuff that you already did). I returned the 2nd mobo and bought a used KX7-333 on Ebay for $51 and all works fine. I still don't know what the problem was, but as you can see, it was something with the mobos. Good luck with it and please post solution if you find one.:D

Yeah, think I'm just gonna buy a new board... Now the question is do I get an 8RDA+ and NF7-S... and do I keep that board and give her mine (system is for my gf) or just keep my 8RDA+ that won't do over like 180FSB for some reason.... (no mods yet except sinks on mosfets)

I can't speak for the Epox, but my NF7-S 1.1 is doing fine...you would get the 1.2 which should be even better. With your new HyperX, you should get 200+ fsb easy.:D

Any idea how the Epox and Abit compare clock for clock?

Abit's always better, clock for clock.

I wonder if the board is suffering from the leaking capacitor syndrome or is not grounded properly?
