View Full Version : P4 1.6A @ stock, vcore=1.1v - How can this be possible?

Eh, I don’t know about you but if find it strange... I handles Prime without any problems and under full load the temp stays under or at 40C! Can the processor be damaged by giving it too little voltage?
Cooling: Swiftech MCX4000 with a silent 80mm fan.
Usually I run @ 2.56GHz with vcore=1.525 and since my IT7 under volts the average volt stays around 1.5v. good. Idle: 39-40, full load: 50-53. (same cooling as above)
Here is a picture for you:

Well, it couldn't hurt it anymore than overvolting can, and it has less of a risk of "Gate Oxide Breakdown" or whatever it is that hurts overvolted pentiums.
Your only real problem would be stabilityand possible damage to the mosfets that scale your board from 12-1.1, since you are making them do more work.
Even then I think your fine.

my 1600 work at 1850 at 1.1v :D :D
also tryed without heatsink, tmeps are ~40° in idle, but my Abit read wrong temperature by at least 2-5°

Havn't tried running @ 1.1v with higher clock than 1600MHz.. Really don't care..
MAN THIS CPU RULES!
Now that I knew how slow and cold it can run.. I wanted to try how high it could go.. 2.92GHz! vcore=1.7 --undervolt-->1.675. Swiftech + Vantec tornado 80mm fan... no volt mod or anything..
