how hot is not good for the pwm's? im running water cooled on the cpu and gpu so theres not much air flow around the motherboard. the current temps running dual copies of prime on small fft's is maybe 58c on the PWM's, but its not 100 percent prime stable yet, and im not happy about using more than 1.6v on these cpu's.

The pwm's can handle temps alot higher than 60c its just a matter of the hotter they get the less efficient they are resulting in not as clean power to the cpu.

Generally i start to add more cooling (turn the fan up, add a fan) when temps go over 50c.

primeing puts more stress on the computer for a greater period of time then most people will put on it day to day, so if your worried about it just put a low speed fan over them and youll be fine.

Y have mi PWM temps at 43 when idel and they get up to 55.
I have a 120mm fan blowing to them cuase when they were without fan temps were about 53-73.

When they get above 50 the Fan speeds up.

During playing games my goes up to 60C constant while playing. And I don't have any crash problems at all or anything.

Just put the stock Amd HSF fan to use and its helping me cool my pwm
The temps has dropped down to 41C at full load while priming.

Earlier the temps were rising to like 48/49/50 now its at 41/42Max.

Just used a rubberband and attached it to the cpu's hsf fan , hehehehe ;)

Everest Screenshot shows the Mobo Temp and the Chassis fan is the 60mm Fan.

The fans rpm also doesnt cross 2K at full load

Chipset temps might rise more with a Dual core CPU when its OCed.

thats a really nice mod, but be really careful, rubber bands are horrible when placed in a high heat environment and loose consistancy, you dont want tha sucker to break and have that fan drop on your video card

Yes.
It would be better to use Zip Ties with that mod.
Anyway, Im using a 120mm fan.

Temps easily bust 100c for my pwm's. No problems yet, and going strong for several months now...

lol..

Mine hit 65 when I use 1.6v on my X2

1.75 volts at 2950 puts a hurtin on em for sure... ;)

And PWM was designed to run at that temp. Great job my friend

.....

Whats that? :fact:
Well, it was designed to work like that.
Even that, we all should know that the cooler, the better=long life.

PWM cooling makes my OC unstable.
High Vcore needs high PWM temps in my case.

That sounds odd. Coldbug ?!?!

No coldbug.
With a fan blowing towards the Pwmarea i got 42°-47°.Core 0 become unstable while priming.
Without a fan i got 57°-65° and Prime is running on and on.
Ambient temp is 23° all the time.

ABIT strongly advises keeping PWMs under 100C.

100C I would never imagine it would get that high but I guess it does...

Mine stays just at 60C at full load and around 47-48C idle.

A lot has to do with thermister placement. On the DFI Lanparty boards the thermister is placed in the general area of the pwm's. So the reported temperature is quite a bit lower than actual...

i've read the pwm chips are rated up to 110c, but I've had stability problems at anything over 70c on an ultra d board when pushing the fsb way up there

mine used to hit almost 60C and made my 3200+ not very stable. Put a fan blowing over em and got temps to hit about 45C and now my 3200+ is much more stable and can OC about 50mhz higher at least.

Had mine go up to 90C. Put a silent 120mm fan over it, now its much cooler.
However it did nothing for my overclock.

yeah it really didn't effect anything until I pushed for 345+ fsb on an ultra d, then temps started effecting stability

Had exact same problem with my Ultra D. This is why I mentioned thermister placement earlier. Reported temp is lower than actual...

yeah my problems went away as soon as I placed a 60mm fan towards them though:D

Exactly. They were hotter than being reported...
