View Full Version : New AM2s
I just built a system for my dad for Fathers day and decided to give AM2 a shot for him and I noticed with stock cooler a 3500+ idles at 19-20C. Load it never touched 30C during Prime.
Does anyone else have an AM2 that is the same as this or does this one have extremely good IHS contact?

I'd guess that the BIOS is not perfectly calibrated yet. An update should fix it, but anyway it seems reasonable that these chips run as cold as their 754/939 equivalents (although not that cold).

I thing it is a bug,it cant 15C in idle...Normally it must, 25-28C...Because,am2 chips is same with S939(except ddr 2 mem. controllers).
However, biostar is not a good mobo manufacturer. Why did you chose it?

Biostar is a very good motherboard company. They made some of the best MATX socket 939 motherboards available. And yes, that is definately a glitch unless you computer is in a very cold room.

Biostar makes excellent micro ATX boards. The BIOS options on the S939 boards rival DFI and others in options for OCing.

One thing I did notice...the BIOSTAR does not allow the changing of the CPU Mulitplier in BIOS...I can change it in Windows...
I had to clock the CPU at 220x10.0 to get stock speeds from the 3500+ which is no big deal.
