Hey guys... Just got my 2 sticks of Twinmos 256MB of PC3200 RAM...
The chips are indeed Twinmos chips... This is the markings on them:
0304 TMD7608F8E45D
Now I bought these because they were a steal at $59 each... I figured I'd try these out and hope for better performance out of Dual Channel with tighter timings than I was running...
So far it's not looking good...
I tried running them with 200FSB DC 2,2,2,6 with 2.9V and I got a ton of errors in Memtest86... I then lowered the timings to 2,3,3,6 and it passed one loop...
Gonna burn them in for a while and hopefully can get some more juice out of them... I was hoping for at least 210 DC FSB at 2,2,2,6 we'll see if some burning in helps these chips out...

mine aren't the greatest either
I have 2x256mb twinmos with the winbond bh-5's on them and top out at 200mhz fsb dual channel 2:2:2:6 at 2.77 on epox 8rda+
I have some standard Kingston PC3200 c2.5 that does almost 210 at same settings
I need to order some better ram to go higher on this new abit board I got

you should top the memory at the tightest timings and burn-in the memory.
mine did only 212-213 Cas2 5-2-2 but now I´m at 244 Cas2 5-2-2

Ok can you suggest to me exactly how you burned in yours? So far I'm at 210 DC FSB at 2,3,3,6 2.9v....
So you are saying possibly run at 190 DC FSB at 2,2,2,6 2.9v?
set it to tighest timings possible, then max the vmem, then burn in for 24-49hrs.

As with most components it is just the luck of the draw whether or not you get a stick or two that hits the high numbers. Burning in or no burning in not all sticks will hit the same numbers, but hey thats life
Anyway I do wish you luck with your sticks though bowman :)

I remember reading that the Twinmos memory ending in 'B'
is good, but the 'D' series is crud :(

Ok guys... So far it's running stable at 205 DC FSB with CAS 2,3,3,6 timings @ 2.77v....
I tested one stick individually and it ran at up to 217 FSB CAS 2,3,3,6 timings @ 2.9v....
Tried running 210 DC FSB with CAS 2,3,3,6 timings and got some nasty tearing and screen flashing and even rebooted while running 3D... I'm guessing I need to do the VDD mod...
Now I need some confirmation on how to properly burn in the RAM...
I was going to leave MemTest86 v3.0 and loop Test 5 for 12 hours or so at my tightest timing which I found to be at 180 DC FSB CAS 2,2,2,6.... Anything higher than that gives tons of errors while running MemTest... Is this the proper way or should I use some other program like Sisoft Sandra??
Thx for any help..

ok guys mine just came in.
now mine are
P/N:M2S9108AFAWB9F0811A-T
308M53013860047
PC3200(CL2.5) 256MB DDR-DIMM
chips read. WINBOND
3072E
W942508BH-5
now i got 2 sticks from memoryX.com only differance in the two are the serial # of the ram.
one ends in the ..........860047 and the other ........860050
i heard someone say you can tell by the number if you got a goodset or not.
anyone got any ideas.i cannt test them untill this weekend maybe.and it is going to kill me to know i cannt try until sunday.

BH-5 means your fine. Its the same chips nearly every other hi performance ram user puts on their sticks.
For burnin, I just loop the cpu tests in 3dmark2k (helicopter baby) for a night at the highest volts my mobo will allow. Then I boost the fsb as high as it can go and run the the same tests the next night. Then I boost timings for the next night, and call it quits. I let the computer just do normal everyday apps.
Then I get to work on the tweakin.

I got four sticks with the same part number this past weekend. This memory rocks. I have two other sticks with twinmos branded chips (same chips as what started this thread) and it craps out around 220mhz.
The mobo I was using was fsb-limited to around 235 so I never found the limit. I got two pairs with sequential serial numbers. One pair did 230fsb at 3-2-2 cas2 and 233 at 8-3-3 cas2.5. The other pair did 228fsb at 3-2-2 cas2 and 235fsb at 8-3-3 cas2.5. I could probably run tighter timings on the top end, I didn't try yet.

shortcircuit: where are you getting these b/c the 2 sticks I got that are bh-5 chips won't run over 200mhz fsb at tight timings.
thanks

JNav89GT, I live in belgium and bought the memory (and a bunch of other stuff) at http://forcom.be not the best prices but they are close to my house and always have a lot of stock.
What mobo / vmem are you using? I can't run low timings on the nf7-s but I can on the 8rda+.

I finally tested my PC3200 that I bought from memoryx. I got them run sandra @232mhz dual. Memory was at 2.9V and the vdd was at 1.9V

What timings did you use and are they Twinmos with Twinmos chips or with Winbond chips??

Haha opps. I forgot those key pieces of info. I had posted them in another thread but forgot in this one. The timings were 3-2-2-2 and according to www.memoryx.com where I bought them, the chips are winbond's renamed to twinmos.

:( So I must have some terrible luck that I can't mine to run even at 200FSB at 2-2-2-6...
Maybe what they need is a long 24-48 hour burn but don't know if it'll help... Did you burn them in first or were they that good right off the bat?

tried on mostly the vdd modded 8RDA+ that is stable at higher fsb than this twinmos will allow. In my NF7-S I get a reboot and major instability at >200mhz and my timings are cas2 2:2:6 vdimm at 2.9v

ps I looked up some ram at www.memoryx.com and their shipping is outrageous at like $18 to ship 2 sticks of ram :O

nm today the shipping was reasonable so 2 day airborne express was only $8 or so
ordered 2x256mb of the twinmos with twinmos(remarked from winbond) chips.
if they sux I will just sell them off

You DO have other (active) cooling on your north and southbridge? And you also have a VDD mod?
Otherwise it isn't strange that you can't run 200Mhz....

Well with burning in mine.
i sorta pushed them this morning.i couldnt help it i had to know if it was money well spent or not.
so after 2 hours of memtest86 i reached a high of 226 dual bank at 8 2 2 2.5 would only due 217 @ 4 2 2 2 i ended up with a voltage of 3.1 to do that.
this would pass the test.
so i am happy with the out come.my hyperX pc3500 would only do 217 4 2 2 2 single channel @3.1v
i have heard so much on burning in on this ram i will see.would nice to get 226 dual bank @ 4 2 2 2.after a nice burn in.;)

I'm running with the stock heatsink on the NB. I added a 60mm delta on top of that. Added a little passive heatsink to the SB, and stuck some little heatsinks on the mosfets using thermal tape.
