View Full Version : Galaxy 7600GS 128MB DDR3 Voltmod - vGPU & vMEM (non-reference)
So, here it is:
1. Control points for the vGPU & vMEM:
VGPU:
Measure between GND (point 0 for example) and point 1, 2, or 3. If it's hard to measure here - do it on the other side on the corresponding capacitor or the parallel mosfet of p.1 .
VMEM:
Point 4 - on the leg of the mosfet.
http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/5359/vgpumeasurepoints3dx.jpg
2. The MOD:
You need two trimmers of 100kOhm.
Red is for VGPU, green for the VMEM. Black is GND - your choise. I prefer the resistor, as shown.
VGPU is done on FIRST leg of the regulator (FB1), VMEM on the resistor 336, as shown. FYI its connected to leg 4 of the regulator (FB2) and can be soldered there.
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/3491/isl65349ki.jpg
http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/3483/vmodabyss8ua.jpg
If the trimmers are sticked to the capacitors as shonw and you can read their description, then rotating them counter-clockwise should increase voltage. Watch it with care. It shifts slowly at the beginning, and very smooth afterwards.
The resistances between these legs and GND before the MOD are (with vGPU jumper at overvolt position):
FB1: 652Ohm
FB2: 228Ohm
The effect is impressive! The core made a huge increase from stock volts OC of 670MHz to rock stable 720MHz. And the memory - from 1610MHz to 1800MHz for benching, 1780MHz for 24/7. Consider that the GPU overwolts under load with about 0.020-0.035V.
Gonna post pics with the water cooling soon :D .
The regulator is ISL6534, if someone is interested.
Thanks go to my commrad Yovchev for all the help. :D
I've been using the card 24/7 for 3 weeks now and haven't had any issues.
720/1780MHz @ 1.605V/1.89V. WC'ed GPU (never went more than 52 degrees), and HUGE ramsinks on the MEM (never more than 40*) and all the mosfets (same temp here) with a 120mm@1000rpm blowing directly at the card. 3D05 - 7150+ Marks.
EDIT: FutureMark now supports 7600GS cards. Here's an url - 7153 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2058880)
Good luck and report!
Disclamer: Everithing you do is on your own! You may and you will lose your warranty after the MOD. I cannot be held responsable of anything!
Cheers,

Thanks for the mods :D
Time to blow one of these up.
Thanks, guys :)
Not bad for a first post, is it?
But there's the bad news - now I don't have a toy to play with...:( Not until Conroe comes (I'll be back in the Intel club:p: )
Unless... the timingsets of the card's memory and perhaps more vGPU? I'm really thinking it can handle 1.7V 24/7. With my WC setup it's way off the dangerous temps - increase from stock 500MHz/1.38V vCore to 720MHz/1.605V was a mere 3 degrees under hours of 3D05 (45->49).
And the card is 1.4ns Samsung, which uses the nr.7 timingset. And looking at the datasheet (page 52 of 53) (http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semiconductor/GraphicsMemory/GDDR3SDRAM/256Mbit/K4J55323QG/ds_k4j55323qg_rev12.pdf) I can read that the difference in timings between 1.4 and 1.2ns is quite small. So maybe I'll try them.
What do you think of those "add-ons"?

here (http://www.mvk-japan.com/kc/products/galaxy/nvidia01.html) is a list of galaxy 7xxx serie cards with secs&pics. I would rather go for 128mb ver. with 1.4ns mem. another ineresting 7600gs availaible here is Jetway 7600gs 256mb ddr3 1.1ns samsung at stock clock 500/1400 (same as GT) easily clockeble up to 650/1650 without v-mod on stock cooling, I do think it shoud reach 700/1800 with v-mod and Zalman VF700/900 cooling.

anyone know how to mod galaxy 7600gs with new pcb?
i had galaxy 7600gs 2ns and now i got new one .. with 1.2ns (625/1750 so far) ... but there are differences in pcb ..
here are the pics of both cards

here you have more pics... with closeups on some "things" on pcb ;]
if anyone can help me i'll be grateful
my results so far:
01 - 31023 / 03 - 15707 / 05 - 7320 / 06 - 3620
edit:
vgpu and vmem measure points:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/chaosik/tweak/gs.jpg
idle 1.36/1.89
load 1.4/1.9
Give me a pic of the regulator at the front of the card. The one in the upper right corner. If it's the same - same mod. And differences are simple cosmetics, I presume. Check the regulator.

What pcb do these 7600GS running? I'm just wondering if they're using the same pcb as my 7300GT DDR3 (w/Zalman fan). Under nVidia properties, my pcb board revision is p456h1.

Gotta check that. I'm not sure. I think a guy over here in BG has made a mod on the normal 7300gt ddr3.
Chaos, I know i must have bigger scores, but...
Can you tell me what are your temp under load w/ vmod and o/c... I think mine are a little high - 51-52* on the core.

i dont think that its your temps ...
in poland we have high temps right now (air is around 28-31 during the day)
My card is not yet moded .. just wc on the core .. memory is naked
idle i have 43-46* (depends on water temp) .. 52-54* in stress
maybe your system is messed up .. try instaling new one ... i always got a clean system for benching on the second partition ;]
7.2k in 05 can be made with put a problem with clocks around 640/650 with drivers in quality mode... so you realy have to work on your score ... dont show your self without 8k :>

Do you know which rezistor is to pencil for vMEM mod? (The vGPU mod worked fine with pencil and I think vMem would work fine too).
I have the same PCB as you have.. only difference is that my board is 7300GT.
Seem to share PCB's.

i dont know any pencil mods..
you have to solder 4th leg of the controler to ground thru the 50k ohm multiturn resistor (sorry if my english is bad)
some pics
vmem (with measurement points)

http://chaos.dracopc.com/pub/galaaxy/vmod/chaos_7600_gpu2.jpg
http://chaos.dracopc.com/pub/galaaxy/vmod/chaos_7600_gpu3.jpg
as far as i know ... 7300GT and 7600GS with new pcb are moded the same way
p.s: when making vgpu mod you can solder to a jumper that changes voltage of the card (the yellow one) ... no soldering on the card needed ..
middle pin is connected to 4th leg od the controler

Thx. but the new revision dooes not have the yellow jumper (JP3 for 7300GT) anymore
It may need de-soldering of ther "former jumper" solder points and then solder the resistor there ;)

look more carefully ;]
there is a jumper there ;]
but its soldered do the PCB ... just check it out ..
im sure that there is a connection between 4th leg of regulator and this "new jumper"
its large place to solder .. so its also easy ...
its the same PCB as the "new" one ..
galaxy just cuts the cost of the cards. They took away jumpers for voltage (useless any way .. 0.05 increse) and bios change. Theres also no buzzer (but i never used him and never heard a sound from it :P ) ...

Kind of a lame but i wanned to ask how can i do that delta thingy on my VGA?
I just did a pencil mod on R451 and it wokred lika a charm running on a 720MHz core but havent mesured the resistence and voltaje but a little more then 729 got a crush(in the first mod i was able to run a 750MHz and more but card was too hot(GPU 96c 1min Load) soo i did the mod again from the start). Now most of the time its runing Idle-56c and load-85c with a sink on the Vgpu mossfet and the stock cooling... a 93c Load in NFS MW but its only there i think most of the time the temps are like i sad before.
http://www.nvworld.ru/downloads/BIOSModifier_33.zip
Here it is, my friend. Go out and play :) .
I tried it a while ago, but didn't make any difference (had driver problems <- this is lame :p: ). Try something like 70-90 delta. Here's a start - in the attachment. Just remove the .zip. BEWARE - THE FANSPEEDS ARE SET TO 0% !!! Change them!
I'm gonna test it these days too.
Успех, братле.

i use almost the max value .. -125 :) :D

Ok thats cool! ;) im gonna try it tomorrow after work, im working at night :(
Just woundering will the use of a delta help me OC more, my max now is 729Core and can i use a third party overclocking tools like RivaTuner or ATiTool and still have the delta or it has to be no change at all after the flash like a registry tweak in the driver ?!
The delata is permanent. It's written in the card's bios. So you overclock the GPU and the delta is aways the same MHz less. Are you cooling the card with a Zalman?

Nop im cooling it with the referent cooler Full load - 89C and Idle - 56C.

hello there,
I have a 7600GT Z which looks like the galaxy with the 3 jumpers and board rev p456h1 which overclocks to 650/1515 without mods. I volt mod the bios using nibitor but did not work but I leave it cos I changed the default speed to 620/1460 in 3D and fan speed to 100%. I changed the volts jumper position and gained 10 MHZ overclock using my modified bios (haven't tried the jumper with original bios, shall I?).
I am a bit dissapointed with the memory speed (max 1515. Any way to increase the speed with a pencil mod?
thanks
