Hows about a n00b forum with either all the useful info front all the other threads located on this forum, or specific step by step howto's? This place can be kinda intimidating to those that don't already know about overclocking.
Plus to teach someone overclocking from the ground up, IMO would be very satisfying :) Seeing they're first OC'ed screenshot...
PS. If there is one or a n00b thread i haven't seen it and it need to be more visible :p

I think we do have some how to's around the site... The problem being though, this is a site where you improve on what you already know, its not really a place where "n00bs" should be asking "omfg how do i oc my killer pc133 ram dude"?
Not to mention, I have a feeling the term "n00b subsection" would piss off a lot of people, as few n00bs like to admit the cold hard fact.

"omfg how do i oc my killer pc133 ram dude"?
You forgot the "lol" :p:
I agree with Perry_78, if the admins were to make that section, they would at least have to call it something else, and set some guidelines as to how "n00b"ish you actually can be, without sounding idiotic...

I think the stickys provide simple enough how to's for the majority of members and most information can be found by searching, a lot of people including myself lurked here for weeks if not months before first post's to build on knowledge. Also if a question feel's noobish then the question's probably been asked elsewhere so search for it. Maybe before a thread is posted it should be made mandatory for the poster to use the search button :p:

IMHO, as the name indicates, xtremesystems is no place to start with overclocking, but to improve what you already got and what is already kinda xtreme anyways. There are hundreds of other sites on the web that are perfect for the first steps in overclocking-land.
You can't have one site for everyone who overclocks. At school you also don't start with the graduation. ;)
Sorry if it might sound a bit hard for some of the people who consider themselfs as "noobs", but that's the hard reality in my world. Don't know what yours is looking like, as everybody seems to see the world a bit differently. :)
Just take the time to learn the basics and then feel free to come back here and post here when you feel that you are OCer enough to do so. Don't misunderstand me, I would in no way forbid so called noobs to post here, but just don't complain that you don't understand everything and don't wonder why some poeple are tired of explaining the basics again and again, if you could've looked them up on your own.

Hmm...
I vote appartheid!!
Keep XS clean! - Noobs can use other pages, gain knowledge, and when they're ready, join up if they want to...
I nearly never link too XS threads in the danish fora's, not cause I dislike noobs but I really hate when people say things such as "Explain it in a way we moral can understand, and not just you and your geek friends", "its not worth the effort", "I will beat you all once I get my new CPU paired with my zalman lownoise cooler!!!"... Luckily, these comments arnt frequently used on XS, or actually, never seen such comments on XS.. - And if I do, I'd really love to help cleaning up and removing that "bug" ;)

Yup, EOCF is a good place for that or OC3D.
Either way, I don't mind the term n00b :)

Fair enough, I understand what you're all getting at.
From what i read in the forum guidelines it seemed to be suggesting there's an Extreme Overclocking section for (obviously) extreme overclocks and then the seperate intel and amd sections for 'general' overclocking discussion.
I can see why you wouldn't want to deal with having to reply to threads of which the content you have already posted...I've already done that myself (asked a stupid question and replied to one myself)!
Maybe if there was a section or thread for it, then those stumbling across your forum like I have would know where to post, and wouldn't get in your way? Agree maybe not called 'n00b forum', i wasn't actually suggesting its name for use, just the principal - maybe 'Start here' or 'In the beginning' or 'First things first'...!?
Or else, maybe make it clear in the guidelines (obviously not being rude) that those new to overclocking should look else where for how, and then come here when they're serious?
Just my experiences...i don't want to seem as if i'm trying to tel you how to run your (obviously very successful) forum :)

Ok, so i'm a n00b...the answer you'd get the that would be..."what's [H]"? (And I've at least a degree of common sense to type it into google and find out, but not everyone would).
Just think if you don't want n00bs poking and posting around then direct them else where?

I think I can speak for almost everyone here when I say that we generally have nothing to say against noobs, as we all started like that.
And as I already said, the sites name already indicates the audience it is made for. Most noobs should get the idea pretty fast. It's just not the right place to start ocing and IMHO it should stay that way.
AGAIN, I have no form of dislike against people who are new to ocing, and I really love to help them learn it. Still it's nice to have a place like XS where normally only people with certain skills post there experiences. Most people here at XS are also actively participating on other forums and helping out the noobs there. For me personally XS is like my little Freak-OCer-Hideout. You just meet people who have a certain level of knowledge about overclocking and you don't have to answer basic questions all the time.
That's just my opinion, but I dare to say that a lot of other members here share the same or similar opinion.

Fair enough, but I just assumed it was 'another overclocking forum' with a bit more quality in it's depths. Also, if thats the general consensus, why not make the forum guidelines a bit clearer?
An entry exam on the registration - "Please post your current overclock. Mandatory 20% required for stock, 50% for water and those with custom cascade's get in free?" LMAO! Just kidding!
*Please* don't beat around the bush and tell me to bugger off if you think i'm being awkward or anything - i'm not easily offended :D

That sounds like a really good Idea + even some of us experanced overclockers could learn a thing or to, im still learning great stuff.
