Don't know where to put it, so this is how it got here... no further questions about that :)

Today I was searching for a old Pentium 2 bios update, and do some overclocking action on it. Like always, after some time I got myself reading of-topic things, and that's how I found this blast from the past:

- XtremeSystems was named Icrontic in the past or something like that. I saw a member posting that a lot of guys came over from there to the 'new' (back then XS was pretty new) Xtremesystems forums.
- XS went online halfway 2002.
- Something many people know: XtremeSystems and ExtremeResources were 1 site in the past.

About the past. Was Icrontic devided into XS and XR? Or did we first have XS, and then XR. Or maybe first XR?
I'm I right about the time XS went online?
Can I watch the info posted on Icrontic forum again? It wasn't online today...

Then about the relation between past, present and future...
I've been reading a thread where [H]hardforums faked a benchmark. Intel won, but there were people who did not believe it. They thought it was just a good commercial for Intel, because [H] had a lot of members and stuff. True XS legends got banned from [H] that moment. Nowdays, XS can't be called small is it was back then. I see much 'new product tests' when I snoop around here. Is XS going the same way with people faking stuff and get paid by a big company? Are mods afraid of this happening?
It's a bad think, so u should, or do you have a good reasen not to be afraid.

I hope the old skool guys find there way to this thread and answer my questions.

Regards

It was XS, then XR. Some of the guys from XR have been frequenting here more often, which is good to see.

As for the question of is XS becoming [H], definately not. The new product tests thing, IIRC, was because FCG posted some Conroe + Crossfire stuff and some people were saying things along the lines of, "This does me no good, use so and so video card and then it will be useful" which wasn't helping out in the least.

There was also something where FUGGER and FCG had Conroe and an Aopen board that they had been told would work with Conroe, but it didn't. They had made a big April Fools thread about it, then when it didn't work, some people got pissed, even though it was out of FUGGER and FCG's hands. But it was mostly people who came over from [H] to see Conroe that got pissed, which lets you know that we at XS aren't that bad yet. :P

A bunch of us came from Icrontic with Oppainter to XtremeSystems.

We do not tolerate fake benches or paid off benches. We bench in our name and for our reputation in the community and acceptance from our peers is key.

When a product does good it will shine, not like pushing my Jetway mobo

One of the hardfakes I was banned in was the P4 I think they were claiming was at 4.4Ghz and the benchmarks were done at 3.9Ghz. At that same time I had the same hardware and posted up what the correct bench should look like and ran one at 3.9Ghz to match what they claimed was at a higher speed. At the time most people didnt know between top screen shot speed vs bench stable speed.

I never visited hardforums again. I think I am still banned and I even met Kyle a few times at different events as well as after parties.

XR was a copy of this database and a plan to get control of this DNS switched to the copied site back in 2004. The plan failed and some of the people committed to XR have come back since, others have faded into the internet and I am sure drop by from time to time.

FUGGER, is Kyle as much of an a$$hole in real-life as he is on [H]?

I've found Icrontic online today: http://www.icronticforums.com/
Not much members there, am I on the right forum?

EDIT: hmm it seems like the Icrontic forum has been renewed in 2003.
Not a lot of good info on it.

So XR tried to take over XS?
