Hey all,

I am just curious about something. I know a lot of people who have 65nm CPU's find that they overclock easier than 90nm, but I am wondering if that's because they run cooler? For instance, if you paired a 840 D against a 940 D, would one run cooler than the other?

Thanks :)

Yep, 65nm CPUs are indeed cooler that 90nm ... that`s well known fact...

It uses a smaller fabrication process, needs less volts and runs cooler. They tend to overclock better anyway, not just because they're cooler. Die shrink is always good, Compare AMD64 Clawhammer overclocking to Venice overclocking :).

EDIT: Not ALWAYS good (prescott  )

prescott ended up with longer pipelines than the northwood though..... so can't say it was the same architecture with a die shrink, they made the pipes longer = big change
