Hey,
Im building a computer and i need a motherboard.
What is the BEST TOP OF THE LINE motherboard i can get right now.
I need it to support INTEL, NIVIDIA video cards, and DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
It does NOT need to be conroe compatible but if it is great.
And no im not waiting for conroe.
Price is of no issue. Also this is mainly for gaming so if that means something fyi.
Thanks
Dan

Based on what you said I'd get the Asus P5WD2-E premium @

However, if Conroe is important to you or maybe later, I'd just go ahead and buy an intel bad axe

ya thats the one i had my eye on just didnt know if anything better was out there.
One more thing, would the bad axe perform better than the one above?
Im not talking about it runnibg on conroe, just the bad axe board.
Like what would run better:
Bad axe with Intel Pentium D 950
or
Asus P5WD2-E premium with Intel Pentium D 950

I"m partial to Asus and that is their flagship board, but the bad axe is a fine board as well and it would serve you well. It has the added benefit that in two or three months you could drop a Conroe in there and even if it was a lower end Conroe, I believe you'd have a great deal more power as a gamer. I really, really don't see how a gamer would ever think about passing on a Conroe gaming machine.
just my $.02
edit: I guess I'd better answer your question. With an Intel Pentium D 950 on each board performance wise I think it would be a toss up. I simply like the bells and whistles of the Asus
