get smth better for that price.
build a unit for your own or ask someone to build it for you.
the only good thing vapo has is its evap enclosure, but everything else $uck$

What about this , ? This is cheaper ,
I need to replace my gaskets .

Complete set of components [01-L-0116] needed to upgrade CPU or motherboard of the same socket type design (AMD S754/940/939 & P4 S478).
The Socket kit can be applied universally on all existing VapoChill models.

The socket kit consists of heat conduction compound, clamshell gasket, socket insulation brick and CPU protection shim plates

You'll still need to replace the clamshell with the S775 version because the one for S939/S478 (which I assume is the one you have now) won't fit. The mounting holes on S775 motherboards are positioned differently than S478.

Yeah, clamshell mounting holes are the problem. I think some people have kludged this nicely for AM2/775 by making a separate mounting plate to act as a converter from 939 to 775; bolt the clamshell to plate with the 2x s939 holes, bolt plate to mobo through 4x 775 holes.

Don't quote me on it tho, I coulda been dreaming. :)

If you have the Socket 775 kit, sure.

You might shop around. Jab-tech had the same kit for $50 less, though it's out of stock there atm.

so Vapochill LS right out of the box wont work on Conroe?? i thought it supports LGA775??

cos im getting one in 2 months just before Conroe launches, is there anything else i need to buy??

umm we are talking about "Vapochill Light Speed" right??

sierra_bound

It will work out of the box, if you order the S775 version. Many people have the other version with the clamshell that fits on S939 and S478 boards. You can replace the clamshell on any version.

It's sold as two models (either black or silver), one for s478/754/939/940 and one for s775. I'm buying the full kit to convert mine.

how bout the vapochill ls here:
http://www.svc.com/vapo-cooling.html

these 2:
http://www.svc.com/04-l-1052-40.html
http://www.svc.com/04-l-1010-40.html

by looking at their specs, features i cant see the difference

so the black one works, right?

Those two models have the wrong clamshell. It's too bad because I see you live in San Jose, so SVC would have been convenient. I drove to SVC once to pick up something.

damn, so what "clamshell" should i get??

can u like post a link or something??

sierra_bound
05-30-2006, 10:23 AM
It has to have the S775 clamshell. The link I posted earlier is the correct model. I would shop around. Prices on Vapochill and Prometeia units and accessories can vary a lot.

ohhh i c, so u dont know links to any of th clamshell kit?? anyone?? i dont know what to look for

sierra_bound

The first post in this thread has a link to the correct clamshell kit. But why not just buy a Vapochill that already has the S775 clamshell? You'll save money.

I have another question for the new Conroe 2 duo. Since intel is now making pinnless CPUs , is pinrot now a thing of the pasT?

Where would you want to use the dielectic greese now since there are no pinn holes?

Thanks

same place as always: under the cpu.

I dont understand why you would put thermal greese on the LGA 775 and where would you put it?

http://images.tomshardware.com/2004/06/19/intel_stakes_its_vision_of_the_pc_future_with_775_ launch/socket_compares.jpg

In the middle is where some would go with some insulation.

Anywhere that there's an air gap and where condensation can form. Which means everywhere. So long as electrical contact is good, and with the HS or block pressure you apply, why wouldn't it be?

So putting it on the gold dots wont mess it up in the socket.

There just doesnt look like too much contact with the contacts and greese

I can understand filling up the pinholes on a 939

So basicaly what your saying is full the whole socket with greese
