Hey guys, just swaped my 760 to a 730 chip and it boot up at 201fsb no problem. but when i try to get it anything about 224fsb with clockgen the system would freeze and the core voltage is already at 1.6... i am sure the cpu still have some room for more oc. what's the problem with my system?? could it be the ram?
my specs:
dothan 730 cpu
P4p800se
ocz platinum el 2-3-2-5 2x512mb ddr
geforce 6800u
36gb raptor hdd
250gb seagate sata hdd
thermaltake 430w psu

I think he means that your memory might not be able to support your processor after a certain FSB (memory limitation). YOu'd probably have to pick up better/ higher frequency RAM to keep going.

Some 730's dont overclock well, did you try lowering the multiplier and still the same FSB wall? You could try lowering yor ram timings also...

thanx for the explanation, i am looking into some OCZ platinum rev2s any good recommandations?

First try a lower divider to see if it is your ram.

use eist to drop the multi and clockgen to see if you can get past 224

actually yeah - 224*12 is a pretty average clock for teh dothan so it could just be a cpu limitation, try what citrix said.

i tried to find eist but the link on the sticky is dead... and google is just giving me the explanation of the technolog. where can i download it?
and i just find out i can't even get the cpu to boot at 221 the computer will just reboot continuously and any more fsb it will freeze. i will try to lower the multi and the the timing and see how it goes. also i will be pick up the new rams tomorrow. If it's the cpu limitation i guess there is nothing much i can do. Thanx for the help guys!

Thank You w5 i found the file finally!!!
Also an update:
After i lower the multi to 10 and set the ram to 4:5 i can bump my fsb to over 224 no problem... now i am begaining to think my cpu is a pos...

2.7 is pretty average. I run 225*12 as my daily speed, my last 730 couldnt do that and my older 725 did a little over 2.7
swap with a laptop user if you can, but that's the average.
p4p800se bios has multi adjustments in the more recent bioses, you could use that and run a higher fsb/lower mutli for more overall performance

ya it can adjust to 2.7 with clockgen but not stable... the same thing happend with the 760 too. also i did notice a little performance boost with higher fsb and tighter timings. i guess 2.6 is good enough for me...

got the ocz platinum rev2 today... now i know the problem is with the cpu, max stable clock is 2.6 oh well atleast i get 2-2-2-5 timing now
