Guys,

I built my new system, all brand new parts etc.

Intel Pentium 4 950 Dual Core "LGA775 Presler" 3.4GHz

Asus P5WD2 Premium Intel 955X (LGA775) PCI-Express Motherboard

Patriot Low Latency 1GB (2x512MB) PC5300 667MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

my current GFX card is the Sapphire ATi Radeon X1900XT-X 512MB which i am obviously keeping.

PSU - Enermax Liberty 620W

Now then, i rig it all up and when i power on everything spins up, but i get no monitor output, I have tried and tested everything I can, and have narrowed it down to the CPU or Mobo (as its unlikely to be RAM)

I have since replaced the mobo with an Abit AW8, not as good :( as the ASUS but it all works fine. So does this mean it is the mobo causing the problems, I have just RMA'ed it aswell. Expecting one back soon.

Anyone got any advice or ideas, is it most definately the mobo?

Thanks,

JR

I rememer reading a few days back that a guy was getting no post, and it turned out to be NO BIOS on the board, he discovered it when he hooked up the TV to the card i think... It was an Intel board though
This was pretty wierd, and most likely your board was DOA.

hmm... it shouldn't matter if you plug your computer into a monitor or TV, you should hear your motherboard beep (sign of post.. atleast on Asus mobos). If it does that, then you should be in the clear. If nothing is being displayed and you notice the beep, then go find another supporting system and plug up that graphics card. You changed out your motherboard, and it works fine now. I'd either find a couple of excess parts that can go on that motherboard (just important stuff. CPU, RAM, and a video card is practiaclly all you need) and test it out (or go find a friend who has compatible parts/time). But from what you've done, it sounds like a motherboard issue.

If you remove the RAM, do you have a Bios Error ?

If not, remove also the video card.

If you still have no bios error (beep) then it's the board or CPU.
