Could someone (who has a conroe setup) make some benchmarks on a WinXP-64 Edition? Like CineBench, Winrar, etc ?
Just to see if the EMT-64 on Intel Core Duo 2 is improved from Prescotts/Cedar Mill or if it still have a lack of performance on 64 bits.
64 bits performance is something to consider when Windows Vista is comming.

Core and Yonah are the same. It would be:
Core Duo 2 is, Core Duo isn't :p:

He means the core arch, which is not yonah.
Are there any 64-bit and dual-thread results available from core 2 duo atm?

Merom's Core Duo, so actually not..
I'll ask coolaler once he gets online on MSN :)

Merom is Core 2 Duo and supports EMT64.

Supports EMT64, yes, but isnt it just "Core Duo" - or just my bad memory ? :)

I meant Conroe, not Core. Sorry.

Must be the latter. :p
Intel press release (http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/20060508corp.htm)
I tried XP64 for a couple of minutes, but none of the overclocking tools for my board (Merom+AOpen) seemed to work...so I quickly ditched it. It seems to provide a bit of an increase in programs specifically coded to include 64-bit support.
Conre is, Yohan isn't.
OMG. This has to be the 400th time I've seen someone type Yohan instead of Yonah(not to mention the misspelling of conroe :soap: ). One of these days I'm just going to snap. Someone will ask me about my "Operton porcesser" and it'll be "Everybody run! Here comes WASD the Xtremely disgruntled postal worker! Has has a cutting torch and a backpack full of bawls!" :wierd:
Tomorrow or wed I will run 3 game benches, winrar, photoshop and maybe something else. Conroe vs Yonah :D

There's been quite a few 64-bit Conroe benches floating around. You may want to check Tech-Report's Woodcrest preview for starters.
Luckily Conroe/Merom doesn't have a performance hit when running 64-bit code like the P4 did, due to a better design..
The P4 executed 64-bit code slower due to having it's ALUs run at normal speed in 64-bit, unlike in 32-bit mode where they ran at twice the speed.
