I just bought a new 17" LCD that seems to support 1280x1024 @ 75Hz analog and 1280x1024 @ only 60Hz digital (DVI-D) according to the drivers, it does support 1024x768 @ 75Hz DVI-D tho. Why not 75Hz with digital DVI-D @ 1280x1024 and only analog. This is my 1st LCD monitor.

Is this common or should it be this way or is it a sign of a cheaper monitor etc. It's a LG L1732P-SN 4ms, 700:1 etc. ~$270 monitor.

I haven't tried analog yet but in the manual it says 1280x1024 @ 75Hz works with analog but analog should also have a bit worse quality... but I'd prolly rather use it anyways to get 75Hz 1280x1024 if this is the case... I'm confused about this though, I was certain 75Hz would have worked with both analog and DVI-D.

(Haven't tried forcing 1280x1024 75Hz DVI-D, in case it will damage the monitor.)

On a LCD you will never notice the difference between 75Hz and 60Hz. I don't know if it's normal that it can't do 75Hz from the DVI-port, but it doesn't really matter because you won't notice it, at all.

I hope you're right, must be my 10-years CRT usage that is fooling me. I KNOW 60Hz CRT and 60Hz LCD is very different but I was saying I thought I noticed difference between 60Hz and 75Hz LCD mode.

I still wonder tho if this is normal that the monitor can do 1280x1024 @ 75Hz analog but only 60Hz in DVI-D mode, are there any 17" LCDs that works in 75Hz 1280x1024 DVI-D too? Is 60Hz the standard for 17" 1280x1024 DVI-D?

Can you plugin both analog and digital cable in the monitor and gfx card at same time if u have 2x dvi and of course a dvi - vga converter, cuz I think this monitor has a digital to analog switch button. Doesn't seem to be meantioned in the manual about it.

wierd... I do notice a performance difference between analog 1280x1024 @ 75Hz and 1280x1024 @ 60Hz DVI-D. It's just the same feeling as going from 60Hz to 75Hz on a CRT (apart from the flickering). I'm not pretending, I do see a smoother gaming experience.

I have to try digital again to make sure, perhaps it was some setting that was changed. Or maybe some ppl notice, others don't?

Seems like I will stay with analog I just notice much smoother gameplay, and I notice in 60Hz it has slightly more crisp and clear text. Is there any way to setup a program or something to use 75Hz while gaming and 60Hz while in windows without having to go to monitor options all the time?
