I hate to beat a dead horse.. but what are people having the best luck with 2x1gb kits? I have a DFI Lan party ultra d and an opteron 165.. I hear anything with a UCCC chip is what to buy but out of those which are the best? If I were to pick between OCZ Mushkin and G.Skill which exact model should I get. Lets say $260 max to spend!

Thanks in advanced,
Mike

I think I'm going with OCZ OCZ5002048EBPE-K 2GB Kit DDR500 PC4000 Platinum Edition unless someone recommends something better.

Thanks,
Mike

I know I'm at Xtreme here but I think super expensive RAM is a waste of money. The real world difference between RAM at 200~3-4-4-8 vs. 275~2-2-2-5 is next to nothing. If you want more performance you'll get it from a faster processor.

Rant off.

With that said I'd pick up something in between, like some Corsair XMS or Patriot/pqi. I don't care if Corsair doesn't make the fastest stuff on earth but it's the only stuff I'll use in my main rig. I've had a few sticks go bad, bought my PC3200 back before it was JEDEC certified, and the round trip RMA process from Houston to California took 8 business days. I even marked the bad RAM, and wrote down the serials, etc. and the stuff they sent back was brand new, not some refurbed crap.

Well I don't want my ram holding me back when I overclock my processor thats all, and i think you have the 200/275 mixed up, but I know where you are coming from. I was just wondering what is the best for the money I alloted for ram; if anyone has any additional input I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Mike
