I had removed the ihs from my fx-57 and didnt want to mod the prommy mount to use it with a hatless processor. so last night i reinstalled the ihs on my processor. i used a stock heatsink to hold it in place while it dried and put AS Ceramique (sp) between the core and ihs. i thought i had a good install but now im not so sure. I have another fx-57 on the way with the hat still on.
the system cools down to -33 and powers on my system i currently have it running stable at 3380mhz but the strange thing is that when there is no load on the processor my temps (reported from bios, i have no other way to monitor cpu temps) are between +6 and +11 but as soon as i put a load on the processor (100% useage) the temps start to drop down to between -2 and +2c. if im running 3dmark 06 for a long time the evaporator temps start off at -41c and VERY slowly drop down to somewhere around -30c(this is with the fan running in turbo mode ). at the end of a 3dmark 06 run my cpu temps are around 0 to +2c. Is any of this normal for a Prommy Mach II? my temps should be lower right? Even if i never get it working better than this its still pretty cool. There are just so many things that could go wrong im wondering what will break first, did i get the mount sealed, is the flex hose gona hold up... a million other things i could have screwed up. I was hoping for lower temps and faster clock rates but the damn thing works and im amazed maybe over time ill actually get good at this.. will post pics tomorrow its 4am here and im gona crash.

i think i have it running at 1.465 volts right now with the vcore overvoltage enabled on the a8n32-sli. but last night i had it all the way up to 1.58? with vcore overvoltage enabled (adds 200mv) temps of the processor didnt change that much at the higher voltage settings although it did seem that the evap. temps might have increased a little faster. the strange thing is this processor has never responded to increased voltage even on water if it wasnt stable at 1.465 + 200mv then it wasnt going to be stable at a higher voltage and thats when i had the ihs off. The same seems to hold true for the processor on the prommy if its not stable raising voltage dosent seem to help. But what about my temps??? why whould putting a load on the processor cause the temps reported by bios to DROP!?! And i was thinking i would be running about -15c under load but maybe thats too much for this r134a mach II... oh btw it reports it has 210 hours of use (i bought it used) is that a lot?
Thanks

Well, i wouldn't trust the bios temps IMO. 210 hours of use isn't bad, thats amost 9 days of 24/7 use, you may notice better temps when the ceramique has time to cure. :)

210 hours is amazingly low compared to some that I've seen.

Your temps as reported by the display sound pretty close to where they should be for the load from the processor really.

That's a decent clock speed for a mach with 134a to give you and really if you get it nice and stable at those sorts of speed with the fans running nice and quiet as you can with the 134a model, then you've got a fast and quiet rig which ain't really that bad.

Like he said you can't really trust the mobo monitor that much, but if it's cold and it's stable and the temps go up on the display for the evap then you've got decent contact and you can just wait for the Ceramique to settle in and see where you go from there :)

Nice one, and with a Mach that hasn't been used much it will be a great candidate when you think about getting it modded too :D

Thanks a ton for the replys guys, i have no point of reference (being my first system) so you guys helping us noobs is all we have to go on. Here is a photo of my baby. anyone want to start a pool on how long it will run b4 some mistake i made causes catastrophic failure? Thanks again and keep the help and suggestions comming.

as long as you insulated good then there should be no catastrophic failures :D insulating is a pain in the arse but well worth the time.

Just keep monitoring every few hour for sign of condensation for first few days. After that keep it once a day... after about a week... you are pretty much okay :)
