i saw the pics of installing vapochill LS and i was wondering how to clean off the silicone paste on the m/b ?

and since my chip is said to be bugged, how to "avoid" the freezing up of the mem controllers?

The only way to avoid the cold bug is not let the chip reach the point where it bugs. That may be at 0C - 32F or colder. Each chip is different.

If you have silicon on the motherboard you will have to pick it off with your fingernails or tweezers. If it's dieltric grease you can use fingernail polish remover (acetone)

Does that answer your questions ;)

silicone/silicon...i think there's a difference :D

If you mean putting thermal paste on the socket...i would not do it. Don't know any easy way for cleaning the mess. Should work fine without it.

For the cold bug, try and pray. It doesn't get very cold with LS, so with any luck it should work.

think for my place, i would need it.
home is a damn humid place, so condensation happens pretty damn fast.

now question is what temps does the cold bug strike.

is it possible to control the temps of the vapochill before it is installed ? i need to slowly decrease the temps before it hits coldbug temps

The temp range for coldbug is wide (from cpu to cpu). Nothing (reasonable) u can do to control the LS temp.

I would try it out and swap the cpu for another if it bugs. Not fun to play with a coldbugged cpu. Maybe u should apply the grease on the socket only after the initial tests. The mess doesn't do any good for the resale value. ;)
