I have a friend that decided to built himself a new computer but he's gotten off to quite a rough start. When he put it all together It couldn't get past the initial windows install screen so he couldn't even format his HD's.

We figured out that it was the memory, so we swapped the memory from his old pc into the new one and everything seemed to work.... til windows was installed. The windows he had was somehow corrupt so he just used another version which works fine now.

Anyway the question is, do you think that the memory is not compatible with the motherboard? If its bad he'll find out when he runs memtest.

Could be faulty memory, silly question im sure but were you installing windows overclocked? What i suggest you do is test each stick individually using memtest/windows memtest (if you can).

Oh no, we haven't figured out how to overclock an amd system yet, though shouldn't the ram clock itself back automatically to ddr400?

Could there be any bios settings that need changing you think?
