seriously ... what are these people thinking? I don't want it cancelled, I want it to ship and I want the sales tax fixed !!!
Maybe that's an automated response till they can get back to you?
(hopefully)
I just talk to the manager at the store face to face with printouts and receipts... he knows me, my brother and my dad by name now.
(my family buys way to many electronics - when we pointed that out and had receipts to prove it they became really helpful. Haven't forgot us yet.)
Is the store close to you that that would be an option?
A lot of their employees are incompetent, but their management is good if you talk to them (at least in my experience) so as long as you don't need help from the lower level troops you should be good.
I suspended my main rig for a bit since it was having some driver trouble with 195.39. It was giving me the old "driver had to reset" error. I forgot to resume....:slobber
This was a few days ago. It's back up now with dual harpers for WCG and a 260-216 for here.....

Thats not good, I had a few hours downtime today myself . I updated the bios on my p55 rig. Forgot to put the voltage back up; went to my parents for my Mom's 60th B-day. I got home to find out that the P55 crashed. I then went to update to the 195.xx driver myself; it works on all my x58 machines, but does not allow SLI on my P55
So I went back to 191.07 drivers I think they are
Updated all my machines to boinc 6.10.18
For some reason I am not getting the production I planned, but I am still doing well.
I am thinking of making some changes again too, just not sure what the heck I am doing or want to do right now. I know I need to figure out how to proerly power all my systems. I have My P55 running on a 500 enhance psu, but the 2 gtx 275's are running on my Galaxy evo 1250 which also runs my main rig with another 2 gtx 275's.
I may be pulling 1 machine to run big wu's for F@H and possibly exploring linux and will pair with either my 9800gt from an old amd system , cheap gpu by itself, or possibly another GTX275. I have not decided yet. Way too many ideas in my head

I went back to 190.XXwhatever since I found out my rig has been throwing errors ever since going to 195.xxwhatever. That driver seems to su*k real bad for 260 cards. It was throwing "snow-storms" on the screen, and giving me the error "graphics driver has reset" and such.
So far, so good on the older driver. I have a couple of valids.
Since Nvidia has decided to ignore my repeated problem reports on the issue I have with KVM functionality, I'm really looking at the 5870 thread with interest. For $300 a card, that will be my next move if they prove solid on real work.
On the PSUs, I learned early on to go big and good with those. I have mostly 750 watt units, a mix of Silverstone 750s, which DDTung turned me onto, some Corsairs, and the rest Thermaltakes. They have all been rock solid. The lowest rated supplies I have are some 500 watt Thermaltakes. They are all supporting at least one quad and one 260-216. So far so good, but I can see that they might have not been the best choice for upgrading.
I'm still a noob on farm management, and I don't think any of us can call themselves experts. DDTung was the closest we had to that. I do miss him.
My best,
Bob

Oh no, looks like the main rig is still having trouble with driver 190.62. It appears to be throwing errors still. I'll try some driver gymnastics and see if I can get it back. It's a factory OC evga 260-216. One of the early ones....

If trying 2 or 3 different drivers does not help forget it. It was an older 65nm model that I could never get to work RMA'd it and the replacement would not work either. My 2 newer 55nm work fine.
I had thought originally that all the 260-216s were 55nm. I found a tiny snippet that has my part number as 65nm.... The card is part number 896-P3-1267-FR. The FR indicates that it came from Fry's so I substituted AR and found a little blurb saying it was 65nm. I know my card is a very early 260-216 so I suppose it is true.
No wonder it's been driving me crazy! Now I can quit trying to make it work. I was worried that the card had a hardware problem.
Sparky is looking for another 260-216 to fill out a dual card folder. I had intended to give it to him for folding. I suppose I should take it back to 182.50 driver and ensure it folds. If it does, it's his.
Regards,
Bob

Done deal. The GPUGrid problem card is going to fold for Sparky. I hope he doesn't run me over with it...
I'm still looking for a 5870. I can't seem to find one local here....I'll back fill the main with my trusty 8800GTX until I can get one online somewhere. The 5870s seem rather popular right now.

Hey guys don't me, I had 2 machines crash today possibly due to the new beta drivers . Kind of funny how I can run for over a month non-stop without issues, then I upgrade and system crashes
Anyway; I am back up, will see what happens tomorrow. I hope it doesn't crash.
I may have to give up 1 system, but that will only affect WCG.
I will possibly be losing my P55 to my brother or possibly Otis. I am feeling a tiny bit nice and they are both in need of a good system. I am not sure what I am actually going to do yet, but plan for a new 920 system to replace the p55 or just add to the farm.
another good note is, I just bought a gtx 260 from a fellow member and sold my UD2 on another forum.
Now I can really compare the GTX 260 to my 275's, no more BS, hands down comparison between cards on very similar hardware
Should have my card before Snow Crash gets his 285 just playing, but I should have it by the weekend. contemplating buying an msi 260 from a member on another forum as well

maybe a trip to MC this weekend
Gotta build a crunching basis some how... (we'll see how it works out)
Lookin forward to seeing how the cards compare! Need to start looking into ATI once they finally get that working, but we won't put it all on you.

Well thats good news
@Otis: I used to run ATI, but less than half production compared to nvidia killed it for me. If they get it figured out, ati may start kicking some butt. I hoe they get it figured out cause I am sure there are a lot of ati fans that had no choice but to go with nvidia

Well it's about time Snow Crash...You almost got a penalty.
It looks like 8 days till we overtake SETI Germany...The day before thanksgiving. Way to step up team.
Put a GTX260 back on the grid for this, and I think I'll keep it here this time. It runs much hotter and squeals sometimes with F@H. I can run the fan at stock with gpugrid, a lot easier on my ears.

Had a very long day yesterday so it was not until this morning that I got the 285 crunching. For the moment it is below stock as I had read there was a screw up at the factory that flashed these at core speeds that would cause them to crash. Sure enough when I finally got it going and opened Precision, the core was running at 694. I was in a rush (had to leave for work) so I just turned all settings to lowest to make sure there would be no crash during the day. I will try to tweak it a little tonight and do my long term OC after TDay but for now it will make sure I pie every day :-)
Welcome back 4x4
<update>
I now have the shaders set to a more respectable 1584 :-)
and it looks like we may take Germany by the last update Sunday night ... 4 days ahead of schedule ... XS FTW!
</update>
got my GTX 260-216 today!!! have to make some changes though. I also need to figure out what the max I can go on shaders for Gpugrid or F@H. I might have to go over f@h to look through some posts
EDIT: I an not sure what the max shader clock that can be runon these, but I am sure soon to find out. I was @ 1699 or whatever the actual was, probably over 1700 but I got a driver stopped and restarted. I backed it off to 1687(1692 actual) so far its been good, will see by tomorrow how it does. Tonight I have to change a couple of systems around, so I will have a couple hours downtime, actually a few on 1 GTX 275, wish I had my dremmel here, could make a quick fix, but I think my plan will work for a while.
I basically have a Lian-li A05B for my son with a Gigabyte X58 UD4P trying to run 3 GTX 275's. The way the case is built will not allow for the 3rd card to seat correctly. Its probably not a good idea to run 3 GTX 275's in this case without major mods anyway. I had the case all enclosed and it got way too hot. had to pull the side panel off to properly cool everything. The GTX 260 seems to run quite a bit cooler than the GTX 275's. So maybe for now I will run 1 GTX 260 in this case and possibly add a couple more later, will see in time. I got a pretty good deal on this card so I am happy so far. Will see how it compares to my 275's for final answer. END EDIT
