How do I short stroke 4 drives for Raid 0?

I have 4 new

Spinpoint F3 500GB drives

I want to put
2 in Raid 0 for my OS
2 in Raid 0 for Games / Other Programs

What is the best way to do this? Best Stripe? Short Stroke?

How do I short stroke?

what i would suggest is having all 4 in a raid0 array, then make raid partitions (in this order), 100GB for windows/programs and core games, 100-250GB for lesser games/large unused programs, then the rest for storage.

so to make a raid partition u go into the raid bios and select create, then go raid 0 the largest stripe and input only the total storage that u want for that partition, then repeat until u have in order the partitions that u need

this will short the drive so as long as u are only actively accessing the latter partitions u will get better seek time. but why not just get an SSD and 1TB of storage, and if u stay with the mechanicals i would suggest getting 2 1TB f3 drives u would see a difference with 2 1TB V 4 500GB

I've done it in the past by partitioning 500gb drives to 250gb - but honestly I have no idea so I'm very interested in this. If I can't find a cheap reliable source for ~10 SSD then I'm going to just buy a bunch of decent HDDs and try to short stroke them down to 50% capacity in RAID0

I have had good results with 2 x 500GB Caviar Blacks shortstroked to 340gb through the raid set up. Just turn raid on in your bios and re-boot hit the correct buttons to enter the raid utility ( ctrl & g i think) and build your new Raid O array select which discs you want and the size in the raid utility. I would run 3 of your discs cut down to 100 GB each as one 300 GB hd and use the fourth as storage - back up. Read this great review- http://www.techwarelabs.com/seagate_1-5tb-mod/
Better than Vraptor at less than half the price or as Zanzabar suggests go SSD I have and I like it LOL
