hey guys, first time intel please be gentle. Can someone check my settings on my p5q pro, i just got it running today, e8400 @ 3.6 with gskill 2x2gb ddr2-800. Can't seem to find the 'fsb:dram ratio' setting to set to 1:1 like my amd system so i just set the fsb to 400 and the 'dram frequency' setting changed by itself to ddr2-801 , btw should i use load line calibration? Cpu voltage is set to auto but it's around 1.28 according to bios monitor not sure if it's a bit high...
-also can't seem to find 'pci clock synchornization mode'
are these settings correct(pics below):
3.61ghz
ddr2-801
fsb 1608mhz
?
sorry for the noobage

A little time consuming on the board , i find the chipset very sensitive to voltages and temperatures, but finally i have make some progress

whats the difference between the P5Q-E and the P5Q-Pro, except the heatsinks?, Is the bios of the P5Q-Pro the same as the E and the Deluxe, or there are some BIOS feathures missing in one of these over the others?

The P5Q-Pro has nothing to do with P5Q-E / Deluxe.
This coldbug is mobo related because I have tried the cpu on a other board on dice and that works fine.
now, i've got the P5Q-Deluxe motherboard just like many of you guys, and i'm quite new in OC'ing with intel, since i've been on AMD for a couple of years now.
Now, i have some issues (and no, i'm not gonna go through almost 40 pages to look for answers) First of all, i have some vdrops at about 0.2V. I set my bios to 1.375, but it's at 1.36 idle, and drops to about 1.35 at load.
Another thing is, i can't seem to get EIST to stop working, and it just continues to drop my multiplier to 6x when ever the system is idle.

I managed to boot the system up at 4 Ghz, but it wasn't even close to stable, although i was able to SuperPi the sucker, and got a good 12.184 sec run on 1M.
But, can anyone please help me out here ?

With the Q6600?
Any chance of getting the Auto readings at 9x266 and 8x333?
The readings at the 65mn and 45nm stock speeds would give us a better idea of the overvolting.
And my recommendations not to use Auto settings are proving to be right.

So I'm still having my no-post problems. I tried removing the psu cord and letting it sit for 10 minutes, same thing. I tried removing the battery for 5 minutes, same thing.
I did call Asus tech support and I have to comment about how impressed I was with them. I got a live person immediately. She got my general information and the basic problem I was having and setup my case number. Then she transferred me immediately to level2 tech support. A guy named Chris immediately picked up the phone and needless to say he was excellent to work with. He actually knew what he was talking about and didn't make me run through the typical, mind-numbing troubleshooting process...he just cut right to the problem.
He even had a few good suggestions that I hadn't thought of trying. He suggested I try to boot the board up with NO memory installed to see if I get the beep sequence related to memory. If I still get the blank no-post screen even with no memory installed then the board is hanging before even detecting memory and we can pretty much eliminate the memory as the problem and at that point it is almost definitely a problematic board.
He also suggested I could have a dead/defective battery. But I had previously tested the battery after pulling it out of the board last night and the voltage was about ~3.15v. He said that is slightly high for the batteries and typically they are around 2.8-2.9v. So I'm also going to try and switch the battery with another one from another board and see if that helps. He said he had some some weird bios issues with boards because of batteries. I'm guessing this isn't the problem, but can't hurt to try.
Anyways, I hadn't thought of trying to post with no memory installed to try and get an idea of where the board is hanging...so that was an excellent suggestion. These boards need the LED numbers to give a better status indication. The beep method is a bit primitive and limited...
Anyways...just wanted to chime in and say that I was impressed with Asus tech support so far. And for the one or two others that have the same issue...you might want to try the no memory installed post test to see where the mobo is hanging.
I'll report back later tonight after work if either of the two things work.

Anyone here who's applied the Pencil Vdroop Mod on this board? Is it needed/recommended? Can't find any info on P5Q Deluxe + Pencil Vdroop Mod!

Anything over the lowest setting looks ok if you ask me. We've always known that the vDIMM was a good 0.08-0.1v higher. 0.01v and 0.03v on the FSB and PLL is nothing to worry about, neither is 0.05v on the NB.

How to enable AHCI on marvell eSATA 88SE6121
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
No idea for my problem ?
Thanks for your answers.I'm search how to enable AHCI on marvell eSATA 88SE6121 in the Bios of my P5Q Deluxe.
eSATA support HotPlug in AHCI,
Under windows if I turn on my external HDD, it does not appear on the desktop.
It is visible that if I reboot with the HDD External lights (XP or Vista).
Previously I had a P5K Premium, with an option in the BIOS to activate the controller (a JMicron) to AHCI.
But on P5Q Deluxe I did not find any option !
The Marvell 88SE6121 does not support AHCI ???
Well got the new mushkin kits yesterday, and all my OC problems are gone. Stupid Corsair DHX sticks are on their way back to newegg. Anyone know if this board overvolts that much with a 45nm CPU? Because I thought if a 45nm CPU took 1.53 vFSB it could die...no? And if the board is pushing 1.53V at the 1.2V setting thats really bad...
Never use AUTO for voltages mate they are rather on the high side, a normal E8400 does 3.6Ghz at around 1.2Vcore levels... also with 45Nm CPU's don't set too high CPU PLL, FSB Term Voltage... try my settings below and report back to me if they work out, if ya want more don't hesitate to Pm me...
Also bios sets PL (performance level ) for the ram rather high try 11 first and then try to boot with 10 and test throughly...(AI Transaction booster setting)

Ever thought at your PSU ? or Nb voltage setting ?
Just set 1.22 and test if not enough 1.24 and so on... for a quad you might need more....
I don't know what it is but lately Asus and Corsair really don't get along at all...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree
I don't know if it's already been posted, but Asus has updated their BIOS page with 704 officially now. I updated to it but it seems to be identical with the beta 702 BIOS everyone is already using (for me at least). Can anyone else confirm performance changes or any stability issues with 704 official?

Yeah...I was having doubts with my Antec TrueControl PSU from my other mobo problems. It only has a single 12V rail and only 24 amps...
However, because of those doubts, when I bought this P5Q-Dlx from newegg, I also picked up a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750w psu. I have read that the PC Power & Cooling PSU's are some of the most solid out there...that is why I got it. So my problems shouldn't be related to my PSU... I need to update my sig with the new PSU, I'll do that now.
I haven't messed with the Nb voltage at all. In fact, everything is default/auto. The only voltage I have messed with the vdimm which I've tried 1.9 and 2.0...
With the slightly weird results we've seen reported with voltages set to AUTO, maybe I should try to manually set most of my voltages. What should all the voltages be set at to run stock speeds with a Q6700??

First what happens with 2 dimms ( so 4gb in total ) can you get it to post then each time ? Which bios are you on ?
