Lightbulb Phenom II X4: Northbridge @ 4,5 GHz

    Hi,

I tested one of Phenom II X4 ES chips I got from Las Vegas event. I used new Asus M4A79 Deluxe motherboard (790FX + SB750), ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 in CrossFireX configuration and Windows Vista 32-bit.

First I ran 3DMark05 CPU running @ 6,0 GHz. I pushed northbridge a little bit and it had no problems running @ 4 GHz 3DMark05 stable.

Next I adjusted HT and memory speeds little bit and broke 44k. This CPU is not as good as the one we used in Las Vegas, it did 6,15 GHz in 3DMark05 with LN2 (different DFI 790FX motherboard)

Next I started really pushing northbridge and got it up to 4,5 GHz.. Spi 1M stable

Best 1M I ran was 11,263 seconds (in Vista). I didn't use any tweaks, just real time from task manager. Sub 11 shouldn't take long.

I have another CPU waiting, maybe it is little bit better.

OK. Whose next with 5GHz NB

Seriously, amazing clocks both on NB and CPU

Can you say Sampsa what volts are required for 4GHz+ NB?

I used LN2 and 1,4125V for 4 GHz.. little bit more for 4,5 GHz. Remember this was ES chip with AMD's latest 45 nm process.

well then 6ghz core and 6ghz nb shouldn't really be a probelm

seem like a low voltage for nb at 4.0ghz.

    Damm nice speeds !!

Are you running Vista x64 bit ?

And did ACC help you clocking the cpu higher ? i was trying to get mine higher by using ACC but instead it was less stable when using -2, +2 or +4. And how much volts did you need for the CPU and the northbridge ?

    NB 4.5G
    ...great work, really promising results

NB 4320MHz is my best so far, but I couldn't get 8M run at this NB speed

And...I have no backup result, still these are my best...

<-- Was fighting for 3 GHz NB with X4 920 @air the day before yesterday
    Great NB-clock, awesome result!
It's ambitious, but I'm sure we'll see sub10s when AM3 + DDR3 is there. Golden chip is necessary ofc..
    The Initial value finished
    ...
    PI calculation is done!
