i posted this in the 'best phonom mobo' thread..
i have this board. it lacks some bios options but has still been great. i am running my 9850 right now in vista 64 at 15.5x200 3.1ghz with 1.36vcore prime stable with max temps 45-47c , and i can get it stable up to around 3.4 range with 1.48vcore max temps 53-55c (ran it for awhile @ 14x240 3.36ghz 1.48vcore - could go 3.4 if i loosened my ram timings - thats w/ ht and nb multi's @ 10 so they were both 2400)

i cant decide if i want to get a new board or use this one when this new wonder chip gets released
hope this helps, pm me if you have any specific q's

Phenom II 940 Black Edition + my current M3A78= Me Happy. I will have one as soon as Newegg or TigerDirect has them in shops. I will also have Phenom II's in all my system by this summer.

maybe not a n00b but was damned sure looking to start a fight.
I just gave him an infraction and PM'd him this:
Your comment that Intel=win and AMD=fail is trolling my friend.
When you say something like that in the AMD section it just yells that your looking to incite peoples emotions.
    Do NOT do that again.
    Thanks for reading,

Since they are available for shipping at first in february, i'm thinking about getting an 7750BE (K10 65nm 2x2.7GHz unlocked) meanwhile.

I believe that this february shipping date is bulls**t. I heard some whispering which said that the AMD has already shipping the two new modells for the bigger warehouses.

Just look at this cap. The AMD has been manufacturing these CPUs from early october (at least).

I hope you are right. I'd expect the delay is caused more likely by bios issues than manufracturing issues.

The retail CPUs are already around, so for me it looks like OCWB just misinterpreted some slides and 9th Jan. we will have a hard launch.
AMD would need to do another respin to delay CPU availability to Feb. (of course possible)

If the prices on 9950be come down more after deneb launch I will probly buy another 65nm in Jan. and wait till AM3 for deneb. My 65nm chips are from feb/march and from what I have been seeing theres allot to gain from a later 65nm chip. Of course it all depends on how much the price drops.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

I got a mail today from the shop where I pre-ordered my 940BE saying they expect it to arrive 18th of December (yes, 2008).

Reconsidering the other two shops where pre-orders said 16th and 18th December (IIRC), I think something else is going on. Although this shop ain't always right, but you wont tell me that a shop makes an ETA of 18-12-08 while we actually only get it on 4th of Feb, or anything over 8th of Jan

Also thinking about the earlier release of Shanghai... I dont know, I dont want to get too hyped before this shop is indeed wrong, but somehow this sounds very contradicting

i have just been curious as to why amd has changed their naming system. they had that 5 digit system that no one liked and then they changed it to pretty much the same as intel. doesn't intel have a i7 920 and amd have a phenom II 920? and both have a 940 as well? i haven't followed nehalem but if that is true it could be confusing.

I think it's a great idea. Maybe AMD's numbers match the performance of the Intel products. That makes it easier for the average joe when making a purchase. This way people will know what time of performance to expect. Well, a ball park figure atleast.
