I do not play often but i like fast single Gpus in case i do. Since years i really liked Nvidia but the power consumption is an absolute no go for me. :shakes:
Well lets wait for some more reviews.

All the numbers are great but, hell, THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN watt difference from idle to load... Jesus. The 5970 which is faster by a considerable margin doesn't suck that much.
With the 90+ temps shown in that review, how much OC headroom can we expect from fermi? We know that 5xxx series cards can clock to 950+ pretty easy, can a gtx480 still compete then. Judgeing from the temps I would say no, unless your using xtreme cooling. Water may do so good though.
c'mon, I want to see some 470 SLI benches.
also, 80w between cards when it comes to system power consumption?
edit: holy **** 62C idle.
Errr... the most I see people usually claim as stable who have owned the card a few days or more is around 900, and 925-935 with a volt tweak running very hot, on forums. The ones claiming 950+ usually come back awhile later and say "Oh yeah, it wasn't actually stable at that". So yeah I guess if you just want to quickly bench it can clock that, easily.
So is a 1500 watts going to be enough for overclocking a quad sli config?
Or should I have gotten a larger power supply, or should I get a second one?
hope this works!

lol, power compousion is some year back with this chip :)....+130W up HD5870 is very, very bad for nVidia and for nVidias marketing :)

Yeah, I was a little, but I really did buy a 1500 watt psu for a system I am putting a quad sli 480's in, because I thought that the 1200 watt one could really limit my overclocking. It will be using a 1/2 hp chilled recirculater for cooling, and I figured that these cards could really pull some current when overclocking them, when they are not held back by heat.
it adds up fast for people who are paying 15c+ per KWH, i saved alot switching from a 2900 to 4850, performance wasnt that different, but since im keeping it over a year, its like a free upgrade.
for simple math
200W difference under load, 15 hours a week, 4 weeks per month at 15c per KWH, thats 1.8$
add in 50W difference under idle, 40 hours a week, 4 weeks per month at 15c per KWH, 1.2$
so 3$ per month, if u keep the card a year u can save 36$. since the average is like 12c per KWH in america some people really dont need to care, but others who are seeing 20c per KWH, its very worth it to notice. keep in mind too, if u OC the crap out of a 5850, u might as well buy the 5870 and leave it at stock since u can shave off the difference in price by the cost in power.
point is, no need to say its never worth it, with some people paying double for electricity than others, it really is a case by case basis.

It's even more hungry than a HD5970.
Thanks Hexus for a proper review.
