I would try a bit more NB voltage.

how much higher do you guys think i can push this at these temps.I have cpu vid@1.4 pll@1.56 fsb@1.26 dram@2.0 nb@1.26 in bios
About ACHI Mode:
"With Serial ATA, AHCI also makes it possible to operate other devices as hard drives, such as DVD drives. Serial ATA hot-plugging is also available with only AHCI. Windows XP has supported AHCI since Service Pack 2, but there still are some issues. Windows Vista supports AHCI without any difficulty."
Read all about it here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ON,1594-3.html
To enable ACHI if you have installed Vista already .... cool option ... the driver must be enabled before you can go into bios and change the MODE.
This issue occurs if the AHCI driver (Msahci.sys) in Windows Vista is disabled. This driver must be enabled before you change the SATA mode of the boot drive.

hi I just sold my qx9650 for £400 quite a poor overclocker so nowi have a tuff choice to make to go for the e8600 or q9650. As farcry and crysis 2 are both out soon very demanding games so which 1 would benifit more a quad because this might come into play with these games or the duel for slightly higher clocks. Does any1 have any views on this and which would clock and scale better where talking high end game. And body got any of these 2 with there max clock speeds for the p5q dlx. Because I'm stuck with which way to go.
It will be watercooled looped with my 9800gx2
Thanks in advanced David
Hi I always got cold boot problems except with bios 506. Pc and fans turn on and stay on somtimes keyboard comes on but graphics card didn't want to start. So kept resetting till it booted and aswell my pc take about 30+ seconds to even post. All the time it did this. So your not alone but l want to try and find out why this happens
Not for me. It could be a bios issue, or you may not be fully stable. Try increasing vcore, vNB and vdimm one notch each.
Further than that hopefully if you have a nice cpu. Just keep testing it, your max temps are under 50*C so theyre fine, just watch the vcore. That is already over my personal max so see what you can do leaving the vcore there.
I'd prefer a dual for gaming, 4GHz should be easily done. However these boards clock 45nm quads pretty well too, 450+ FSB is easily done, if I were you I'd grab an e8600, unless other things you do with the pc make a quad a better choice.
Ok so i enabled ACHI now for the fun of it as NCQ is supported only if ACHI is enabled.
And now it is switched over from IDE to ACHI now and i no longer see in device manager the letters ATA beside the drive (but i had to install the) INTEL MATRIX STORAGE MANAGER for this not to see ATA and now under IDE/ATA controllers in device manager its now states Intel(R) ICH10R SATA ACHI CONTROLLER .... yeahhh hawww.
Now i have NCQ on which there is no where to show you if it is or not .... But NCQ is turned on by default by most manuafcturers now, but can't be used unless the controller supports it ... so before it was on, but not being used.
Now i ran a HDtach to see if any difference was made and NO it is still 97.2 MB transfer read and 246 Burst rate. .. so not any worse or not any better.
But ...... ACHI has the hot swapping advanatge and NCQ will be a lessor wear and tear on the drive..... basically it is a FASTER way the controller obtains the data to read an transfer = FAST support, but not faster in tranfer times ... well in larger files .. it will help.
Heres my two posts prior about this option... and AGAIN only VISTA can support doing this After OS was installed .... not XP.

cryptik, what Vcore do you think is safe?anyway heres my new result
I have a request for those who know a lot about memory and timings.
Can someone please relate the memory timings in BIOS (I have 1201) to the timings shown in memset? BIOS doesn't show things like tRWD or tRP or tRFC so it's hard to look at a screenshot of memset and change my BIOS settings to mimic it.
Specifically, I have the same RAM from this thread and I'm trying to run the 5-4-3-12 timings at 2.0v at ~950MHz.
Thanks a ton to anyone who helps out. :)
@Pntgrd and BeastNotro: Thanks for the info guys! :) i'll try the F6 with XP.. i like having it as a dualboot with Vista
Currently overclocking this E8200.. not showing much promise above 3.5-3.6ghz tho.. still needs lots of tweaking.. anyone else running E8200 with P5Q-E/Deluxe??
I have same memory.
I am running just now 1066 in Bios at strap 266 and manually set memory to.
5
5
5
15
50
Leave all the rest to AUTO.
Also i am using Performance Level 10 .. you have to enable AI Transaction Tweaker and set all pull ins Enabled and set performance level to 10.
I also have DRAM static read Disabled.
I just ran a quick everest test at 1066 ..... oh by the way i am at 1.96v in bios.... this is about 630mb more read then running at 901mhz and latency at 901 is around 71-74 .. where as now its at 64ns ... woot woot.
This is good, but i have not tested STABILITY i only did this for fun of it for now to help ppl out. I awaiting my E8600 to arrive tommorow i hope and then i will try for best memory speeds.
i on Bios 1306 MODDED bios made by KET.

time to tweak mate as I have no idea why the write is so slow... this is with PL 8 and static read control enabled for the rest auto...and bios 0803

Leeghoofd well could it be your at 4.0ghz and at PL8? ... I have static read off, maybe i try with it on .... BUT i just did a 1100mhz everest test now (below) is the results ....... but i dropped the multi down to 6x and FSB is around 412-413... now the thing interesting here the sticks hit 1100mhz ...... great ... but GHZ and FSB suffered .... also if you notice it is about 400mb bandwidth shy of my 1066 test results previously ON this very threads page.
Also on this test latency of course is slower, but faster then at 901mhz.
What OS are you running?
And OH i am still at 1.96v in BIOS.
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...erest_test.jpg
So i take it no one is playing around with E8200 :(
I just got it to start memtest @ 475x7 1.28v.. i know im pumping it with a bit more voltage than required at that clockspeed but looking to see where i hit the wall with this vcore before getting down to skews..
One question, do GTL settings affect C2D OCs as much as it helps C2Q?
Leeghoofd
Here is the test 1066 with static read enabled and PL8, but again write and copy are lower then your 3.4ghz test .. only thing i can think of is you have a 2 x 500gb RAID setup and i am still at 1.96v in bios === Kets Modded 1306.

Hey all.
I am looking at picking up this board to replace my current Asus P5K Deluxe which is a complete POS. Can't even run RAID config on it using Vista, as it just dies during install. It's fine when using an array controller but I moved that to my server thinking onboard RAID will work fine with Vista... wrong.
Anyway enough of that. Is this a STABLE board without any overclocking? I'll be using:
Q6600
OCZ Platinum 2x2GB
2x320 GB SATAII Seagates (7200.10)
Onboard RAID 1
ATI X850XT Platinum
I just want a stable workstation board without the headaches this P5K has caused me. I don't overclock.
Thanks
