Hello everybody!
I have created this thread to bring together everybody that owns an Asus Rampage Formula motherboard and has been able to overclock certain kits of memory past 1066mhz.
To my own experience, I find this board is very picky with memory. I've tried:
OCZ Plat.XTC 6400 Rev2 (OCZ2P800R22GK)
- Certain rating timings aren't availible under the options in rampage bios
- Will not OC with stability past 400FSB, and have ran 500FSB 1:1 on my previous P35 boards.
OCZ claims they are compatible, I think they are incompatible.
UPDATE:Patriot Vipers 9600 (PVS22G9600ELK)
- Website claims compatible with 680i and P35 chipsets.
- Patriot claims they have tested this kit with some x38/x48 boards, but not the maximus or rampage.
Thus, incompatible however, Patriot claims these kit uses Micron D9's which are rampage QVL.
UPDATE:Patriot Vipers 9600 (PVS22G9600ELK)
- I got a response back from patriot. The 9600 Viper Fins do use the micron d9 chips, thus making these sticks semi-compatible.
- USE THE WHITE SLOTS! I couldn't even get 1134mhz on the blue slots and now, i'm at 1164mhz 5:6 ratio 485FSB. Still no 1200mhz tho.
- 5-5-5-12 seems to be too tight for the rampage. 5-5-5-15 seems okay with the rampage.
UPDATE:Patriot Vipers 9600 (PVS22G9600ELK)
I was able to get the Viper fin 9600's at 1200mhz by using the Maximus Bios however, the performance decrased by almost 50% with read and write speeds of only 5gb/sec. tRD 60 helped as well.
Crucial Ballistix Tracers 8500 (BL2KIT12864AL1065)
- Crucial website claims 100% compatible with maximus and rampage
- Some threads i found claim they are not compatible
- I just bought these sticks, and yes they run at rated 1066mhz but reviews state hitting 1200mhz is no sweat yet any devider I try and timings/voltage, 1200 or anything past 1066 is no go.

UPDATE: Crucial Ballistix Tracers 8500
There are two versions of these kits which aren't mentioned in any reviews or on any of the packaging of the kits offered by crucial:
BL2KIT12864AL1065.16FD3
This version was the first release, dual sidded micron D9 chips and are listed in the QVL rampage list. They also clock to 1200mhz without a sweat.
BL2KIT12864AL1065.8FE5
This is the newer kit, and they are crap. They are one sided sticks, and they are NOT micron d9's.
They are NOT listed in the QVL, thus crucial is false advertising on compatibility. This kit also barely oc's to 1100mhz, and has crappier cooling.

I'm starting to lean towards that the rampage needs work with new bios's. Oc'ing memory with this board has been challenging.
Anybody else that has experience with oc'ing their memory on a rampage board please share your experiences. Thanks!
Here is the most updated QVL for Rampage Formula.
