I want to purchase a mosfet thermalright heatsink and a Southbridge heatsink, in order for me to watercool my Northbridge (Chipset).... for a better stable overclock on my DFI.

These sinks need to be replaced....

Flashed to 05/02 bios and tested it a bit, works just as well as 12/24 did for E6750, no bugs, no weird stuff, very stable and good for 65nm as well as for 45nm.
Also some of the new few options come in handy.

Haven’t spent much time with 0502 as I found it a little touchy compared to 0317 & I get a strange chirp from the PC speaker every now & again when the board is not 100% happy i.e I set it up wrong.

There is also a typo in there somewhere I think it’s the "Read delay phase adjust" reads as Rea5 or something.

Here's my 8500 on a TRUE @ 4.5GHz using 0502 so its not all bad.

Did you try max fsb with your board on that bios or on any for that matter and on which voltage?
Tnx, will pay attention to what possible faults you have mentioned.

Not realy pushed I just wanted to do 600fsb as a personal goal. I have done 605fsb with 1224 & 0214 on a TRUE & E8400 with very minimal voltages like 1.45vcore 1.6vnb max.

I used memtest to tweak out the GTL's & voltages before booting. I actually memtested 617fsb but I couldn’t get into windows over 605fsb.

I have always used memtest on a Floppy rather than a CD as I found you can usualy post & test a few more fsb from a Floppy rather than a CD, strange I know but the extra work the PC has to do to boot/run a CD knocks off a few testable fsb & when you’re after every fsb it counts.

I find you don’t need lots of nb until you start loading the board up i.e. lots of drives, high & tight ram speeds etc.

We share the same, you just change the image and the configuration settings in the ITE root folder.

Ye its great, It was made by DJ SUB a member here at XS.

He posted a link to it & I also downloaded it RAR'ed it up & posted it again in this thread somewhere.

I have seen a few real smart versions of the skin arround, have a look at the skins Apache0c & mad_skills have posted & if you still want my exact one I'll find/upload it again.

    @ mad_skills, DoObs & anyone else interested.

I had a quick play with 0502 & contrary to what I was saying about 0317 vs 0502 the other day I actually found 0502 a little more stable & predictable at high fsb.

Interesting thing is I have also got a boot into windows wall about 585 ~ 595fsb where PLL helped with 0317 & vtt helped with 0502.

Despite only needing 1.61v NB to post & get into the BIOS well over 600fsb I had to use a whole heap of NB voltage to prevent lockups & reboots when in windows.

Excuse the BIOS version typo in Smartguardian.

So I take it you are going to stick with 502 now? What about 521 in the beta section? Has the same changelog info as 502 so I am unsure what else is different, but perhaps a little more fine tuning? Care to try out 521 and compare to 502? I am still on 317 and liking it very much. I would switch to 502/521 as long as my current settings were transferable without having to start all over testing new values.

Lastly, what is the SATA RAID ROM bios version in 502?

I have a big bag of BIOS chip's all pre flashed with different BIOS's so its no great shakes to swap them out. The biggest problem is usually find & deciphering my mad scribbled notes.

    I think 0317 & 0502 are fine stable BIOS's & I am happy on either.

I did try 0521 a while back but I never pushed it, you know what its like you just got to try it incase it somehow makes 10,0000mhz at 1.0v (Ever the optimist) TBH I dont realy do high fsb I'm only realy interested in what can be used super stable 24/7 so I probably wont try to push 0521 any time soon.

The RAID ROM is unchanged at 7.5 something.

@C-N Nice work man, appreciate it. Nice to know that 05/02 is a proper bios so i can just relax and do some o/c.
Also everyone, are the GTL settings the same for 65nm C2D and 65nm C2Q?
I have used this chart for my E6750:
    http://www.edgeofstability.com/index.html
and just wanted to know if you need to take certain notice on those setting when ocing quad.

Yes they are the same, but you will be needing to run a fairly high VTT with a Quad. Also don't forget, those values are only true for the board and cpu that Praz was running at the time. They may well bear no relation to your board and cpu. So just use it as a starting point, and tweak it out from that.

You'll need the Type 2 version of the mosfet coolers.
Type 3 are to short and won't fit (they fit on the DK version).

Just to be sure, measure the distance between the small holes of the mosfets and then choose the appropriate Type from Thermalright.

These sinks need to be replaced....

www.thermalright.com Can someone advise me which one goes where.

    Thanks

I usually don't get involved in this petty bull but I'll make an exception this time. The only thing the two different versions have in common other then being Smart Guardian is the background being black. Give it a rest. Both look good but there's nothing Earth shattering here. A 6 year old could do up one of these skins. A sad situation if this is such a priority of one's life.
