Thanks for your input guys. I'll try out the latest BIOS when I get back from the holidays.

Guys,
Quick question, should i improve alittle more my overclock, here are my specs
AMD P2 955 3.8Ghz @ v1.41
8gb OCZ Plat 1600Dual channel Ganged
NB 2600 @ v1.3
this mobo can run quad cf of 5770?
with drivers for win7 and vista, can i run quad CF of 5770?
Ganges and unganged is memory...so why single cores......
I was not precise enough. When you are running applications that can utilize only one core then it is better to set your memory to "ganged" because you set there 128bit highway between CPU and RAM. In case of applications using multiple cores it is better to set it as "unganged" as cores will have access to memory through 2x64bit (as Phenoms has 2 memory controllers).
At least I understood it that way and correct me if i'm wrong

Guys,
Im running ram in dual channel mode ganged at speeds of 1600Mhz the ram can handle 2000Mhz and OS im using is Vista64.
Ive just started overclocking, already
AMD Phen2 955 3.8Ghz @ v1.41
8gb OCZ Plat 2000Mhz @ 1600 Dual channel Ganged
NB 2600Mhz @ v1.3
What do you think?
I also have HIS Radeon 4870x2 + X-Fi Titanium Fatality soundcard, hopefully when Nvidea release 300 then i can make up my mind between NV300 or Ati5970.
Is my overclock ok, ram timings are 1T 9-11-11-24, i havent bothered with ram everything is left at auto, only thing i did was CPU and northbridge.
It looks good, but those timings... Ouch! Can't you get them closes to 7-8-7 at the very least?
i dont think that it was temp related because the system was not in a cabinet but open air. I think the stress of useing all 5850's for a long period of time did that, so maybe something to do with over voltage or maybe the cap was faulty from first.
Have sent the mobo for rma, the temps of the 5850 were under 80C at all time.
Anyone else get hyper transport sync flood error whenever you raise cpu-nb volts past default?
It's been an issue for me since bios 1.71 but It could just be a coincidence. I'm not even sure cpu-nb has anything to do with it but I think it's the culprit. It seems to be a fairly common problem.
it happened a few times yesterday when I was tweaking the cpunb
I have the hyper transport sync flood error when i raise the nb but mostly when i bench all my 4 HD5770 cards in quad cf
I am new to this board. Just an interesting observation. I have to flash to the 1.70 bios in order to have it work correctly with a 965 X4 black edition (C3 stepping). I tried 1.1 (shipped with the board) and 1.6b3, I can get into the bios setup but I wasn't able to boot from an USB or from an optical drive. They both hang after auto-detecting USB mass storage devices during POST. The LED shows the "b1" code and it just stays there. I have to use M-Flash to update the bios to 1.70 from an USB drive. Everything seems to work now. Does anyone encounter the same issue?
Some of the bios's had the HT syn flood issue...I would suggest you use CPU - NB Volts rather than the VDDC to raise voltages and then check....
I'm really like this board. I've found out that dominator gt's, which I rouged from my i7 setup, seem to be very light on the IMC. I can hit cas6 on these things with NB @ 3300mhz and CPU @ 4600mhz. Also cas6 with NB @ 2800mhz and CPU @ 4700mhz.
I also started getting the HT Sync Flood error all of a sudden, even though I've been running my system at 3.6GHz CPU, 2.4GHz NB, 2.4GHz HT, (all on stock Volts) for months without a problem.:shakes:
It's either the 1.7 BIOS or a driver issue from my 5850 that has definitely been the cause, because I added the 5850 and updated the BIOS the same day.
TheBlueChanell, do you use a 5000 series ATI GPU too?
Is there anyone that is getting this error after updating to BIOS 1.7, but is not using the Radeon 5000 series graphics card?
EDIT: I did drop my RAM volts to 1.5V from the mobo's default 1.6V because my RAM is rated to use 1.5V, but I read that the RAM voltage being too low is a possible cause of this error. Goona try put it back up to Auto (1.6V) and see how it goes then report back.
I think the flood issue is a bug in 1.7. I went back to 1.6 and haven't run into the same issue.
I was trying to OC past 4.2 and computer hung. So I switched it off and cleared cmos, but now it just gets stuck with code FF and then nothing happens. I have removed the battery and unplugged it for 15 minutes but that didn't work either. So have done it again and have left it for now. There is no display so I am wondering if there is anything else I can do. I see the blue cpu vid lights are all on, so looks like its stuck. What do u guys recommend
just gonna throw in my experience with bios ver 1.7 gave me tons of boot up problems @first, did a little tweaking got it to boot up in to win 7 but after bouit 20 secs after logging into user acct windows would lock up completely after it was done loading up. went back to ver 1.6 and all is fine now thank god!@
ffs msi if you see this fix 1.7 it is garbage!!!!!
